I get a nice check each month and it pays the bills. Had they not siphoned off most of the fund to line their pockets it would pay me for life. Sort of not funny thing but haven't they been running out of money like for ever ? I only go back to the 70's and remember hearing they were running out of money then and pop mentioned in the 60's they were running out and in the 80's Regan borrowed a couple of billion to put aside for road repair that never happened and promised to pay back the load which also never happened and the politicians have been allowing non citizens to draw from it never even having paid a dime into it just don't be surprised if it does collapse but the 800 or so dollars per month you might get from it isn't going to pay your bills so sell your kids and keep your jobs and it sure as heck wont cover you meds and the 30% you have to pay out of pocked for medical bills invest in a 401k young so you can maybe retire or just don't retire I guess you might still be able to be a Walmart greeter if your lucky in your golden years if they even allow you to collect it in the future . best of luck and sweet dreams

I pay 7.62% FICA, my employer pays a matching 7.62%. Combined that's 15.24% of every payroll dollar. If you're self employed, you pay both parts.

Right now social security is funded via a 12.4% tax on the first $142,800 of each individuals earned income. That's up from $137,700 last year.

We're going to see the social security cap increase, social security tax rates increase or some combination of the two to ensure that the program stays afloat. My money's on the social security cap increasing... probably by a lot.

The burden will be placed on the upper middle class, and more specifically, employees in the upper middle class. Most won't even realize and/or comprehend what's happening. The self employed will continue to play games with pass through income from S corporations.

There's isn't a single dollar in the SS fund. The money to for SSI checks is covered by what's collected from those paying into the system. If it had been invested, it would (most likely) be solvent...unless politicians selected the type investments.

The covid reporting is a farce. Look at what is and what is not reported. Always, the total (Cumulative) number of covid cases are always reported. What is ignored? The total number currently ill and the total number who have recovered.

Before our local sheriffs department was banned from reporting numbers for our parish, our sheriff always reported the whole situation. We have had something like a grand total of 2000 cases (out fo a population of 15,000) since this started. Typically we would have somewhere between 15 to 50 people ill and maybe 5 or so in the hospital. But reading the typical media, one third of the population is deathly ill and half of those are dead or dying.

Its not what is happening, its what the media wants us to think is happening. A full blown propaganda campaign, a campaign that would make Pravda proud.
