Are you sure? I just found that first pic on Pinterest with a caption about being the vw w8. And the second pic you posted is definitely not the same engine
Gotcha, I just wasn’t pickin up what you were puttin down.Yes, the 2nd picture is a completely different engine. After the first picture's question was answered, I posted another engine to see if anyone can guess this one.
These are the engines I screwed around with as a kid

NopeV-12 out of a Buick?
Winner! M120mercandes benz v12
It is old school, from the 90’s. And it does have timing solenoids. It’s the weird things on the intake camsI'm thinking it's old school because there isn't any variable timing solenoids. Maybe some type of racing Ford engine? Not sure o this one.
Blech, fuck that British garbage. My jam is German garbageJag V-12.
Sort of. AMG did massage the M120 engine but they are really rare. And the Pagani Zonda’s used them in several forms.Mercedes Benz
AMG
And now, a picture of the aforementioned Zonda R. My favorite car ever and the first thing I buy if I win a trillion dollars in some lottery

Nope, not even a little bit. There is one variation that sort of tries to be streetable though but that’s not the one I’m after. It doesn’t conform to any racing sanctioning bodies either. I don’t give a shit about any of that though. The original is the one that gives me a boner and if I’m fantasizing that’s the one I’m going to driveI don't believe that the 'R' is road legal, whereas the other variations (and there are many) are road legal.

Yeah, they’re quite over the top. The way the R sounds though. And it’s so fucking fast. And the carbon fiber everything. And inconel exhaustI like the look of Pagani's externally, however, the inside I just don't like - too flash! I prefer the more understated interior.
And it is one beautiful razor my brother. Astra SP is hard to beat.Still using the 1959 Gillette Fatboy that was my Dad’s. Thanks to @Lawless I sent it to get re-plated just before Dad passed away. Between the blade collection Dad had and the ones @Lawless sent me to try, I like the Astra the best. I have his Old Spice mug too.View attachment 7891615View attachment 7891616
Try another one. I remember my first engine rebuild. A 70 Ford 302 out of my Fairlane. I did the whole thing with a few hand tools and a Craftsman set of sockets. Not so much with this beast.

In Jr. High we knuckleheads used to go see a movie and then watch it again and blurt out the ending and say "The brother with the black hair did it" or "Jerimiah Johnson's squaw and son get killed, I've seen it." and then laugh our asses off as people in the theatre shushed us.
You come from good stock!!I’m gonna have to save a copy of this to my phone to show my dad, of course he’s a 1911 ride-or-die guy
I have one too. He gave me one because he had too manyYou come from good stock!!
We took jars of moths into the theater. And let them go.In Jr. High we knuckleheads used to go see a movie and then watch it again and blurt out the ending and say "The brother with the black hair did it" or "Jerimiah Johnson's squaw and son get killed, I've seen it." and then laugh our asses off as people in the theatre shushed us.
Kids are assholes
I'mma have a look around for some pics I used to have.1957 Frua coupe I restored (note wrench in hand).
Some people call it a Maserati.
Frua designed it and built it.
DOHC twin cam straight 6 with 3 Weber 48 DCOE/F carbs. (the carbs were a mish mash of dcoe and dcof parts)
Ran pretty good for the era, sounded like sex on wheels.
Old pic, I was much younger then.
It ended up being sold for 1.8 mill in the mid 90's.
