Even worse when you are doing this.
Dad and I worked gold dredge mining claims on the Mighty Mokelumne river in my youth. Many shocks given. Not nearly as freaky as having boulders the size of transit vans trying to fall over on you at 30 feet or running out of gas (and thus air) when you are down in a hole.

Try another one. I remember my first engine rebuild. A 70 Ford 302 out of my Fairlane. I did the whole thing with a few hand tools and a Craftsman set of sockets. Not so much with this beast.
Yes, the 2nd picture is a completely different engine. After the first picture's question was answered, I posted another engine to see if anyone can guess this one.

The only thing I can think of that looks sort of like that second pic is an old Ford dohc racing v8. I could cheat and search the depths of the interwebs but that would be cheating

I'm thinking it's old school because there isn't any variable timing solenoids. Maybe some type of racing Ford engine? Not sure o this one.

It is old school, from the 90’s. And it does have timing solenoids. It’s the weird things on the intake cams

Sort of. AMG did massage the M120 engine but they are really rare. And the Pagani Zonda’s used them in several forms.

Nope, not even a little bit. There is one variation that sort of tries to be streetable though but that’s not the one I’m after. It doesn’t conform to any racing sanctioning bodies either. I don’t give a shit about any of that though. The original is the one that gives me a boner and if I’m fantasizing that’s the one I’m going to drive
Yeah, they’re quite over the top. The way the R sounds though. And it’s so fucking fast. And the carbon fiber everything. And inconel exhaust

A really good place to see former racers of all vintages (and types) is the Museum at the Indianapolis Raceway. A couple of my favorites, one of Jim Clark's Indy 500 racer. But my most favorite is the LeMan's Winning Ferrari 250LM. By a miracle of the times, got to watch Masten Gregory and Jochen Rindt win the 1965 race in this very car. Somehow, someway, the local CBS afflitate televised the race. I loved it.

Some people call it a Maserati.
Frua designed it and built it.
DOHC twin cam straight 6 with 3 Weber 48 DCOE/F carbs. (the carbs were a mish mash of dcoe and dcof parts)
Ran pretty good for the era, sounded like sex on wheels.
Old pic, I was much younger then.
It ended up being sold for 1.8 mill in the mid 90's.

In Jr. High we knuckleheads used to go see a movie and then watch it again and blurt out the ending and say "The brother with the black hair did it" or "Jerimiah Johnson's squaw and son get killed, I've seen it." and then laugh our asses off as people in the theatre shushed us.

Also old theater in the next town over had a balcony. And leaning over and making retching sounds well pouring cream corn into the aisle was hilarious.
Movie theaters used to be fun.

I'mma have a look around for some pics I used to have.
I honestly have no idea if I still have them (I lost an assload in a garage flooding incident).
I worked on all 3 BAT cars (#5, 7, 9) prior to them being sold to the Italian gov't for $24 mill.
They were then sold off to some private buyer and I believe sold to a museum after that.
If you ever get a chance to see them in person, I HIGHLY recommend it.
Although they were crappy Alpha drive trains, they were seriously the nicest, most beautiful, car bodies I've ever seen (and man have I seen a bunch).
The history line isn't fully accurate on that page, and I'll admit I do not know it fully.
