But...I had a chance to inspect this device at the Creek last month and here are my thoughts.
Unlike the failed spring activated stock for 10/22 a few years ago (that was like $1k), this thing really has no moving parts. One bridges one's trigger finger across the 'bridge' with the gun slid to the rear. One uses the weak/off hand to push the gun forward, thus bringing the trigger into contact with bridged finger thus actuating the trigger. Recoil does the rest.
Remember when ATF declared the spring in the 10/22 stock to be an unregistered machine gun and required all owners of the stock to remove the spring and submit it to ATF? On the slidefire, there is no spring. Your weak/off arm is the spring.
While I'm sure this thing is not as controllable as the real thing, I'm impressed with the physics of it. No moving parts!
Like all other full-auto mimicking devices, this thing has its market. And I applaud the designer for his elegant and simple solution to the unregistered machine gun spring fiasco from a few years ago. Gay or not, you gotta love him sticking it to the man.
Personally, I think the crossbow AR15 upper is pretty gay. You take a crossbow, which is not a gun, and put it on an AR15 lower, which is a gun. And now you have a gun that slings arrows. </div></div>
The Slide Fire stock actually works. It's quite controllable and as close as most are going to get to shooting full auto. It's impressive they got it past ATF. For the most part, full auto is gay but under the right circumstances can be useful.
I've sold most of my stuff because I lost the "look at me" gene and focused more on actually shooting stuff. Never looked back.

That being said, I'd like to see new full auto available again. Reagan should have never signed the 1986 machine gun ban. The NFA is/was working just fine. There was little justification then or now.</span></div></div>
Agreed that there was little justification and that I'd like to see the registry opened back up to full auto, but there was a lot more good than bad in that 1986 bill. Overall it was a good thing for gun owners, and it is unfortunate that some anti-gun legislation was slipped into it.
