I would like some input on this otc unit where to scout etc! If anybody can help me out I’d be glad to listen I’ve hunted my whole life but I’m trying to find a bull by myself on my first elk hunt.

Yessir he helped me pick 78Have you called and talked to a CO biologist? I do that and also use Gohunt & OnX to research new areas.
No one is going to give away useful information and they are stupid if they do. Hunting is crowded enough without good hunting spots being blown out. Especially in GMU’s/zones/units that are of typically low success rate like a OTC area.I would like some input on this otc unit where to scout etc! We’ve been getting in shape for sure and not planning on hunting near the road I just need to figure out where to start I’m gonna go scout it this summerNo one is going to give away useful information and they are stupid if they do. That being said, continue to use onx for property boundaries and consider all the things that elk need during that time frame of hunt. Get good at calling, get inshape, and get off the road. Pick a few areas that met the criteria of what elk need during that time frame, (ie; water, sanctuary and food source) hike in and start glassing, bugle etc. You can talk to a biologist or honestly you probably can find all the things you need to know free online. The rest is all just grunt work. Do this and you’ll be successful anywhere you go.
Start at home. Answer those questions. What do elk need during whatever months. Check out a topo or Google earth and find those spots. Research elk sanctuary’s, and if you’re going mid or late season you may need a horse.
