Re: Good buy???

If you get everything in the photo, you got a very good deal. From what I see, it's worth about double that.

Let us know when you get it home.

My next project is to try CFE223 in the 308 Win.

Now I have these full containers of powders and not sure what to do.
I know varget is very popular with 308 but what about these other brands?

What do you guys think about these powders?
308 OK?
Or 223

Re: Good buy???

Nice score and welcome to the addiction.

Look in the manuals or go to the Hodgdon Data Center on line. Both will have load data. If you own a 223 you have lots of combinations to work up. Didn't see many primers.

Re: Good buy???

Yep got about 1500 primers. A combination of magnum rifle and small rifle ones . Almost all being cci

Will be trying to set up a work bench tomorrow so I can start familiarizing myself with the process.

Re: Good buy???

Yes Kevin we can be friends but I'll have to pass on your offer!

Thanks bama for the load data.

I know some powders out perfom others in the 308 Cal but I wanted to make sure that I didnt have any that would flat out suck.

Re: Good buy???

Looks like you got a great deal. Benchmark is a real good powder for lighter 308 bullets; I've used it with 155 a-max with good results. Meters great. For my rifle, it's a little pressure touchy approching max loads, so keep an eye on it when working up.

8208 is starting to become my general use powder for 308 & 223. Consistant burn & great metering. I replaced the ball powder I was using in .223 fmj's with 8208.

If you're just getting started, read that Lyman manual a couple of times. It's a very good manual.

Re: Good buy???

He asked to keep the Lyman and the other manual for future reference and I said it was fine. The only manual I currently have is the hornady and I've began reading it last night. I love color pictures!!!!

I'm hoping to use the bench mark and 8208 for the 168 amaxs and the other powder for my ammo eating ar.

I'm glad ppl are still commenting on this thread!!

Thanks

Re: Good buy???

Lol nope i wish!!! living in a bachelor pad we have to cook are own microwaveable TV dinners.

The guy I bought the reloading stuff off of actually said the 223 would help clean the barrel and he always shoot it before cleaning time. Don't know if there's truth in that ?

Welp reading over the replys looks like I did well on the set up.
Now if I could only line up a work bench or get time off work to make one I could get started reloading. And since shooting time is in direct relationship to reloading time im quite anxious!

Re: Good buy???

NRMA reloading bench is the one I built its a good size good weight and does not take long to build. I built mine in the garage then was able to take it in two sections up stairs and bolted it together. This one works for me.

Re: Good buy???

The top is one section then the leg sections is the other. Bolts and nuts to but it together. I didn't build the shelves on top I mounted shelves on wall so I would have all the top to use. I put a 6" back above the top just to keep things on the table. I did put a shelf under the top as the plans call for. I think it's a good set up for reloading.

Re: Good buy???

Thanks kevin for the bench idea. Didnt follow exactly but same concept. This is how far I got today on the bench.

Plan on building a few shelves up top and of course the big one on bottom.
Ran out of time and supplies.

72x34 inches x 42 inches high. 10 in back stop.

Re: Good buy???

Hey Dereck, you got it going its looking good. A buddy of mine told me about this table. He built one like the plans but 10' long. I been loading for 3 months. I bought a savage 6.5 creedmoor and thats all I load for now. I also bought a kimber 1911 45cal. about 3 weeks ago but not loading for it yet. This table makes it easy to load. The weight and size makes it stable. Be safe + questions = fun. These guys here have all the answers. Don't be afraid to ask.
