Good Muzzel Brake

Re: Good Muzzel Brake

There are a lot of good muzzle brakes. Ops Inc, Surefire, AAC, etc. We're going to have RSTA brakes in mid to late January- they will have EDM bores for concentricity within .0005".

I would recommend buying something that is compatible with a suppressor if you have any interest in suppressors.

The only thing I would avoid is anything with asymmetric port configurations. Asymmetric ports can cause degraded accuracy.

Generally with brakes, the larger diameter they are the more effective they will be. The JP tank style muzzle brake is huge and very unconventional in appearance for a bolt action rifle, but is of course very effective because the baffles are large.

Re: Good Muzzel Brake

I like Badger and Vais. The Vais does have holes all the way around and in the front. Badger is probably one of the most effective. The Vais can be made to any shank and thread size if you wanted to swap out for a suppressor later.

Good luck,

Re: Good Muzzel Brake

Checkout the AAC brake out, it's a muzzle brake And flashider combined into one unit and its also compatable with AAC suppressor that screw right on, I have it mounted on my Remy 700 sps AAC-SD

Re: Good Muzzel Brake

The most effective brake I have ever used is on a 30-378 wby Improved hunting rifle. It's a KDF style with the holes all around. At the shot the concussion rocks your world and will take your breath away. It actually pulls the rifle forward and away from you. It's really funny when I let others shoot it as they dont believe that it does it.

I have thruster/holland/gill types on 30,338 and 50 cals but they are not as effective as the KDF but also dont have the 360 degree blast. Great for prone shooting.

Re: Good Muzzel Brake

Is there anyone here that has had RWS make them a brake for their Rem 700 SPS Tact AAC-SD? I know there are differences in the AAC-SD from a normal full 5/8-24 thread...
