SETTING THE UNIT OF MEASURE
The LEICA RANGEMASTER CRF 1600 can be set to
metric units or the Imperial units more commonly
used in the USA, i.e. either meters/Celsius/millibars
or yards/Fahrenheit/PSI (pounds per square inch) for
distance/temperature/atmospheric pressure respectively.
This setting also determines the holdover display
(in centimeters or inches) and the available ballistic
curves (see page 148).
Setting:
1. Briefly press the main button (2 / <3s).
• The target mark appears.
2. Press and hold the secondary button (1 / ≥3s).
• appears below the target mark. The display
flashes to indicate that a setting can be made.
Note:
For all settings: The relevant displays disappear 3
seconds after you last press one of the two buttons.
The previously saved settings/values are retained.
3. Briefly press the secondary button twice.
• appears below the target mark.
4. Briefly press the main button.
• disappears, and the target mark and continue
to flash.
5. Select your preferred units of measure by (repeatedly)
pressing the secondary button, for Imperial
as used in the USA, or for metric.
• The relevant displays continue to flash.
Note:
The current setting can always be seen in the display
– if metric values are selected, a dot appears to the
bottom right of the target mark.
6. Save your setting by briefly pressing the main button.
• The saved setting and the target mark light up
continuously for 2 seconds for confirmation and
then disappear.
So that means.
Press the big button
Press the little button
Press the little button twice more fast
Press the big button a bunch more.
If the dot is there next to the target square, you are in meters, no do, yards.
It says it is in yards, but try again.
It is back in meters.
Try again.
Ok, now it is staying in yards for a whole minute.
In October, I was 1000 miles from home.
I could not get that rangefinder back on yards.
So I marked my scope in Meters based on the target
I wrote "43" for 435 meters.
I ranged the animal at 437 meters from the truck window.
I got out and laid down... 436 meters.
Close enough.
Now in the middle of the night, 2 months later, I see this thread, and now it is FINALLY BACK TO YARDS.
That "43" now means "477 yards".
