I am a professional photographer/videographer by trade so the editing, timing and color grading is the extra but this is all done with iPhone 12pro phoneskope connected to Vortex viper HD 15-45x60 spotter for the target cam and GoPro hero 6 on shooter cam. all edited in final cut proX software. I need to use my Sony mirrorless cameras as the shooter cam for better video quality but don’t want to haul the expensive cameras to the range every time

True, but I've only had an AI for a year or two, I was a bit late to the party... I was one of the few that ordered one of Sam's Accuracy Obsession chassis' before owning an AI because I've never been a huge fan or their ergos. Anyway, cool to hear that the kits might be available soon, thanks.

I’ve shot mine in several matches including the Brawl at Rifles Only. With the majority of stages usually inside 600yds the 223 doesn’t struggle. But 1000yds hasn’t been an issue either. I usually shoot either 85.5 or 80.5’s.
The one I posted is not really a trainer as much as my new primary 1k yard rifle. I like it more than my 6.5x47. The wind drift at 1k is around 10% more than any 6 or 6.5 non magnum rounds I have seen. It really is pretty much identical to most 6BR family cartridges unless they are really hot rodded. Haven't once regretted building it.
A Lithgow LA101 22LR also in a Bravo stock with the same everything else. We shoot rimfire matches at the same range. It goes ok with the Lapua Center-x.
7 second is to hear the ding of the bullet hitting the plate. It was barley there but you could tell it was a hit or not with the DING!
On paper they may not look significantly different, but they’re just much more difficult to shoot at distance compared to 6mms. Obviously wind plays a big factor in that, but the lack of feedback past 600 yards is even harder to overcome. Factor in mirage, shadows, etc. and you’re fighting to even see the plate move or splash in the dirt… forget about which way it’s swinging or how much you missed by. And that’s not to say that it can’t be done or that you shouldn’t try it, just don’t expect 6mm performance from a .223 no matter how similar they seem on paper.
Browsing hit the nail on the head. Once you figure out what its doing at 1k its good. But not seeing any splash or anything makes knowing exactly where youre hitting tough, especially in wind. Ive had times where Ill shoot a few and go "god damnit Im just wasting ammo" to walk up to the plate and see some small feint marks where I had been hitting all along, they dont swing a full size ipsc at all. Thats why its not as competitive as a 6mm to me but flashers would help.
