Help A Hide Brother - Funds for JMGlasgow

Don’t get rid of anything without a lot of photos. Proof it was there, where it was, condition after the fire or water damage, etc.
Memory cards are cheap. Is there is any way to link the item with receipts for the more expensive items? You may want to ask before you toss.

I think I'm going to need to get a storage unit for my furniture and the rest of my stuff that is still in the house and garage that is salvageable. I'll probably get a dumpster to get rid of the garbage. The trash company picked up my cans since we suspended service for the time being.

Everything will be inventoried before it gets thrown out or listed as smoke damaged. There are items in the garage that were either given to me, I inherited, or were just old appliances, furniture and electronics I never got around to disposing of through a garage sale or otherwise. I'm not real good about keeping receipts for purchases of any kind unless it has a warranty, and even then I'm not a stickler about it. I was basically told to try to find the items as best as I can online, and depreciate them about 50%. I am having trouble placing a value on some handed down antiques, as well as hand made family heirlooms.

The policy apparently was better before it renewed and somewhere it changed and got worse. Even my agency is confused so now I don't know what is going on. I haven't hired any lawyer yet we are just talking. I had Foremost email me my policy in it's entirety and the lawyer is going over it now.

The other restoration company has a clause in their contract that the insurance won't pay for because of the way it's worded, and they weren't recommended by anyone except my adjuster which makes me suspicious. They also just happened to leave their business card on my boarded up front door not even a day after the fire.

Servpro and Service Master are in the area but they don't do everything like All Phase Restoration does. They are the contractor and are the best at what they do.

I'm not sure how much Western Sky does but they weren't recommended except by the adjuster like I said earlier.

The renewal to a lesser policy is where I would look. If you didn't request it or formally accept it or weren't specifically told about it you may have a strong argument. Getting the state insurance department involved in the issue or the claim isn't a bad strategy if it was changed without your request or acceptance. If there is an issue, your agent should be demanding a policy reformation to what you had prior to the renewal with what it should have been upon renewal. You would have to pay the additional premium that you should have paid

The restoration company should inventory everything as it is removed for either cleaning / repair or disposal. They take pics, log it and set anything aside that is questionable for review by the adjuster. If the restoration companies there don't do it, there companies that the carrier can hire to do it. Enservio is one that inventories and prices the list. You will still need to audit and validate the list.

Fwiw, I have been in the claims business for over 22 years from line adjusting on homeowners fires just like yours to managing field claim adjusters across multiple states including Wyoming and now handling claims in excess of $100M all over the world.

Sorry guys, I just got out of jury selection a bit ago.

For now I probably need chains, saws, and people who know how to drop trees where they want them to go. Still at a stand still with insurance but I probably also need help getting the rest of my belongings out of the house and into storage.

Where you want them to go? On the ground.

Better late than never I hope. That's one of my worst fears so I really hope all is well. Before my best friend had to be put down, I was always worried what would happen if he were in the house if something like that or a bad storm tore the place apart. Glad everybody made it out and hopefully most of what was lost is replaceable.

Bender wanted the wood, he may share though. There will be plenty to go around.
I’ll share my wood with @D_TROS anytime. He knows some of my northern Wyoming LR buddies. I don’t know if they share wood with each other though.

where is @Redmanss.... he loves sharing Wyoming wood....

This sounded way more gay than I first thought..........Awesome.

So who's coming Saturday?

I know Mike, and Bender. Who else?

50/50 if I can make it. I have a new job with my company. Didn't know it was happening and I have no idea what's going on. Went from a field engineer to a salesman during a 5 minute phone call last night. 60/40 on if that's a good thing.

Oil and gas? lol! Come up and network. I’m an O&G guy.

Sent some cash. If it weren't for my recent brain surgery I would be there with my truck, Kubota tractor w/FEL and log splitter. It would made short work of felled trees and general property cleanup.

Best wishes to JMGlasgow, family and cleanup crew.
I work at the Kubota dealership here. I'm a tech.

I cant..... ?

However, it is the 8th celebration of one of my favorite people who has ever lived and one of the most amazing blessings I will ever receive.
So that part is cool.

I will get my hind end up there when Jeff lets us know he is ready for more help with another job, anything that needs attacked with energy. Brains, maybe not so much.......?
