I'm going to be rebarreling my Remington 700 VTR in .308win this winter. I bought a blank shilen select match 28" bull 1/10, now I need to pick a reamer... It is sitting in a AICS chassis, so my max OAL is 2.86". I want to run the 175g SMK primarily and be able to jam the lands at mag length. I run primarily Nosler brass. I don't want to get into neck turning, but I don't want it loose as a goose either. Other possible bullet may be 178g A-MAX. I don't plan on competing.

When mine was built a "308 Obermeyer" was the tightest chamber that would readily accept store bought ammo. At one time several military match shooters had this chamber. I can't remember which company ground it. I'm sure if you call and ask they can help you.

Good luck,
Victor

Just load up 3 dummy rds and send them to PTG. Spec your neck and freebore. I would not jam the bullet at mag length, but that is just my opinion. The Bisley reamer is designed to shoot the 168 and 175's at mag length. Add .003" to your loaded rd neck dimension and keep life simple. I custom ordered a 260 reamer with a very short freebore. Both rifles whose bbls are chambered with that reamer are temperamental Bitches! Will rethroat both this summer.

I have chambered a few barrels with the .308 Obermeyer Match reamer. 168 Amax's easily touch the lands in an AICS mag.
