High caliber mk12 mod1 upper will be here next week suggestions on finishing it out

Well shes almost here. The dillon 650xls been pumping out 77 grainers all week. I got a nf 2.5-10x42 thats going on her. The lower im using is a old preban leo/military bushmaster at the moment. Got the harris and adapter. Where i need advice is on the rings high arms or nightforce. Or what. im more concerned with accuracy than being mk12 spec correct. Also i want 45 degree irons should i go knights or something else. And most important ive ran and loved timney 3lb skeletonized triggers in the past. Any reason to change. Also not that its a biggie cause i can change it in a few mins. but should i go with the rilfe length stock or collapsible. And which one. Sorry no prs. I want to stay light maybe a new magpul rifle length this mainly going to be a way glorified overkill coyote rig truck gun. But after taking a buddies out to 800 i saw the light on what these can do. Nice rig. My suggestions: Rings Nightforce One piece or Bobro. KAC makes nice 45 degree irons, nothing wrong with a Timney if that's what you like (I'm a Giselle SSA-E fan myself). Stocks: go adjustable; Sopmod, B5, E-Mod, or Magpul ACS are all GTG. I will recommend you convert to the Vltor A5 Recoil System, it's supper smooth and trouble free on a rifle length or Middy gas system, and you can get it in a kit form complete along with an E-Mod stock(that's what I run).

For the mount, NightForce Unimount 1.375" height 20moa is sweet. My personal favorite, and there's been a few floating around at discount between the PX here or also demo models at EuroOptic.

MK12s don't easily stay light, but they're still far from anchors. A lot of what you're asking comes down to personal preferences for trigger type (single/2 stage trigger, LOP adjustments, etc). The MagPul MOE fixed stock at 14oz would certainly do what you want it to do and would run well with a rear bag, and it comes with good sling attachment options. Keep in mind a MK12 Mod 1 upper is heavy and the lighter stock may not balance well for your liking, why I run a standard A2 stock that weighs a few ounces more but balances well.

There's a lot of angled iron sight options but me personally I prefer an angled red dot either on the rail or off the scope. Of course this bumps the price up a good bit. Can't go wrong with Knights if you can find them.

Trigger wise, totally personal preference and Timney would do what you want, right along with a Geissele SSA-E if you want to try a 2-Stage type trigger.

Enjoy the MK12 Mod 1, mine is a Monty/Centurion built upper but one of my favorite rifles I own.

OP, I have one inbound from HCS as well. Sent the check last week. Won't have a "proper" lower to drop it on just yet, but I have an 80 that I'm having reprofiled to A1 spec, engraved appropriately (colt rollstamp, etc), and then the whole thing will be painted appropriately.

This was built using a HCS upper.
Lower: Spikes Tactical Punisher (SEAL throwback idea)
Geissele SSA-E (amazing)
Regular A2 stock and rifle buffer/spring combo

The gun shoots amazing. No recoil at all and groups around an inch. The bottom pic is at 505yds with 4 of my hand loads (2 groups of 3 looked promising at 100yds so i took the remaining 4 rounds out to the long range)
Its by far my favorite rifle to shoot and that 1 vertical line on the stock is for the first coyote I took with it this last January. The AEM5 is in jail til Nov. Visitation rights are a wonderful thing.

The group is about a half minute low because my handloads are about 50fps slower then the BH 77otm they sent me.

Allen is in the process of moving right now but he will hopefully be settled in to Nevada I believe and building again soon... But yes, theyre a tough cookie to track down. Im glad I have one coming from before all this.

OP, I used a NF unimount 1.375 I believe it was. I havent read very many good things about the ARMS rings, levers breaking and rings coming loose, i decided I wanted a cantilever anyway. No need to smash that turret all the way forward with todays technology. If you want 45* irons I would personally do the KAC ones as theyre much smaller then most and lay down nice. But damn theyre pricey...

I personally enjoy the rifle length a2... i didnt know if I would, I brought my mk12 upper all set up into sportsmans warehouse where a few good buddies behind the counter let me try a LMT sopmod lower on it and a plain jane a2 lower on it and in the end i liked the a2 better. It just felt right. Thats all personal preference though.

Also, if you run the collapsible stock set up, I would definitely expect to tweak the spring/buffer combo since its a rifle length gas system with alot less pressure and those carbine spring/buffer set ups are typically heavier because of the carbine gas system. You'll possibly be under gassed.

I have the Mod2 variant from HCS on a KAC lower with a SOPMOD. I have the NF 2.4-10x32 on the NF unimount and my only complaint was that I had to make an improvised cheek piece as the SOPMOD isn't quite high enough and you can really get a noticeable reticle shift on those particular Nightforce models.

The SAPR exists for this but the weight of one versus some foam pad and 100mph tape is an easy decision.

Lots of experience shooting, maintaining, and repairing this system. If you're not worried about keeping it true go with Night Force rings, Geissele SSA-E trigger, and a Mission First Minimalist stock. Glad you seen the light!
