Holy Price Gouge

He uses W231.

Probably as dirty as bullseye but flows through his Dillon nice and its so versatile as to be used in any pistol caliber he chooses in which case he tends to be pretty conservative and sticks with .38 Spcl 148 gr HBWC, 9mm and .45 ACP of course.

I think he is pretty busy these days though prepping to smite the communist for election stealing (I hope).

I have about 20 # of that stuff. Do you have contact info? I can see this deal shaping up. :)

I play the ant which is a long tedious boring lifestyle.

When winter comes and the grasshopper wants stuff because they were too busy enjoying life, experiences, "freedom" and "not being tied down".......

Of course the grasshoppers then get together and try to find somebody to go rob the ants for them because "it's not fair".....

Most all the idiots I hear whining about "price gouging" are absolute price whores who couldn't give a flying F... about paying "fair prices" when they want to buy something, they will go buy it from enemies of the 2A if they are offering a "blow out sale" instead of paying "fair" prices from places who are crucial to their ability to exercise their freedoms. Most of them will of course have no shame in trying to beat the seller down to the lowest price they possibly can...

Kind of reminds me of all the high and mighty outrage by some over the Prime/RUAG dust up...and then they quickly bought up the ammo when RUAG sold it off cheap.

Sigh...people suck.

Even though I don't reload (yeah, I know......) I was a balls-hair away from buying about 100K primers (not $100k) last year. I kick myself in that ball every day. Though I scored some 308 for not much more than normal. I think in January I was at about 1.20/rd for FGMM 308 (maybe it was 1.05) so paying 1.32/rd in today's market isn't awful. I may even buy more if I get another 10 hours OT this week. My new theory is if you see it available and it's not something silly like some Lapua (I think in 6.5cm) for 70 bucks for 20, then the buy button should be hit. A 20% premium is worth it right now to top up. NO, I'm not Army Jerry.

I went on targetsports and outdoor limited last night. I'm actually a bit concerned these two may go out of business. ZERO stock. Ok, 30-06 blanks!! Some 223 on Outdoor. Even 30 carbine which was still easily found last week - GONE.

People, even people that normally wouldn't be stocking up like mad, are stocking up like mad. I'd love to see a map of where most of this ammo goes. How much of it is going to cities vs more rural/smaller cities?

I take it that you are ok with people buying up water to resell at an astronomical price after a natural disaster? This is what that looks like. Case of water for $100. Won't or can't pay it? Guess you will go thirsty. The sad thing here is I don't have a dog in this current fight. My family and I are pretty well set. I only buy because I want to not because I have to. I sell loaded ammo to friends and family at replacement cost of components in a normal free market. This that we are currently experiencing is not normal. This is a cut throat market driven by fear. I'm not afraid but I also had the common sense and intelligence to prepare ahead of time. Price gouging is a thing in my opinion. At this point I'm happy to agree to disagree.

Everyone here has called out gougers taking advantage of emotional moments.

They tend to be commercial retailers Midway, Dicks a few others have come under attack.

No one supports membership taking advantage either.

For the most part that doesnt happen. Someone at the CMP mentioned a gun show with a seller asking $4/rd for .223. Post that here and watch what happens.

Nor is anyone here obligated to sell any item at a lower price because an individual perceives it to be unfair.

Ive watched items in the PX that interested me but they were at a price point that did not trigger my buy mechanism.

Keep watching and when they dont sell the price will either come down or you can make an offer and see if you can stimulate the poster sell mechanism.

Edit/Add - Your water example isnt really applicable. Water is a necessity to life. It can be argued ammo is a necessity to life also but not in the current situation so much. There are laws against profiteering in emergency situations. Im guessing if we were at war there would be laws against profiteering in ammo.

LOL.
I got some 22 from Midway not too long ago and some from Brownells. Was it high...double what it was in March; but it was still <= 10c/rd (my threshold). No complaints here. Supply vs demand. They cannot get ammo either. In all fairness to businesses who are selling ammo, remember, if they have no ammo to sell, they'll likely fold-up shop. Thus, when they get ammo, and the demand is so great, then they can charge what they charge - presumably to stay in business.

Been doing it this way for years and never been a problem. I've never had a primer go off on it's own either so maybe that has something to do with it never being a problem for me. YMMV
Doesn't make your practices correct.
It only takes once.
Maybe some reading up on it from various manufacturers would change your mind
