If you watch the second video, the narrator needs more of a beating than the thief. Narrator takes over the situation and releases the thief.
The narrator starts telling the store employees to release the thief. The store employees, who speak nearly zero English, are explaining their protests about a gun to the narrator, as if he has some authority. Narrator swoops in and virtue signals to Cracky that, “I’m your brother.” Then escorts Cracky out of the store. But not before Cracky asks to steal a soda right quick. Pretty disgusting display.
Store owners should have yelled "Stop Resisting!" and continued on his head.
I mean, he still had a knife, unless thats what broke and flew out of his back pocket on one of those strikes.

There is a reason they beat him down like they did and didn't do a lot of the other suggestions folks have said.
They understand a culture where justice is more of a "do it yourself" thing and the corrupt authorities prefer to just keep getting paid and do nothing.
Beat a criminal badly enough that they really feel the pain terror and fear, they probably won't come back unless they have a gang of buddies.
Leave them able to stagger off on their own without immediate need for medical attention and you get way less attention from the corrupt police and authorities.
Leave someone dead or in the hospital in a big way, then the corrupt police and authorities might be forced to take a look into it.
It also serves a purpose, that guy will chat with all his criminal buddies and say that is probably not a good store to go rob.

Actually, 2 ounces of lead between the left and right eyebrows would also stop the thieving. But there is something elegant about beating him just short of permanent disability so that he can go to his homies and tell them this is not the place.

I know the mentality from my school days. Beat, whoop one and you better look over your shoulder because you now have a target on your back. And that extends on to the football field in the form of cheap shots and late hits.

There is another benefit for us here in SH for this guy getting a solid caning. He originally stated he had a "strap," jive-talk meaing a gun. If a cop had responded and the guy said I had a gun and reached for his pocket, the cop would have shot and killed him, only to find out later that he had a knife.
Which would have resulted in another in the endless series of ACAB threads where some cop got paid overtime and a vacation in Hawaii for working for the rich and power elite and killing people. But, since this unrepentant and unredeemable thief (he even asked for something to drink) didn't get shot and killed for making terroristic threats with a weapon, we get the slightest moment of a reprieve. Enjoying the silent few seconds...

I just watched the local news and apparently they are looking at filing charges against the two store clerks.
Ha! I finally get a visual of a famous story among me and a few friends. When we were early 20s, back in the late 80s, one of my friends lived a little ways from some little mart where we used to buy beer. The place was owned by an Asian guy, and he was there nearly every day. One day we stopped in to buy some beer and the owner started telling of some dude came in demanding money, and in his broken english he explained his response:

Police are investigating. The duder that videoed the encounter gives a tv interview...supposedly owns a store down the road.
So, after the dust settles from this, I think there will be more repercussions for the thief.
Of course, if he wins money, then thugs are going to be going around and looking for a beating that they can get money from.
I can't even really tell who he's defending. Saying that "we" need to be better is rather telling. "We" are just fine. It's "them" who need to get the message that they aren't entitled to free things and hopefully more asskickings will get the job done!

Police could have shot the shoplifter and that would have been ok...Now the police will arrest the store employee for something much less than what they would have/could have done. The cops are going to arrest the good guy at the behest of their masters.
Well, that is also the problem with these cell phones and live streaming. 20 years ago, you could beat the guy and no one would know about it and you could always deny it. And your CC TV broke down because it is the same brand as the one they used to watch Epstein.

Doesn't matter what some hypothetical thread or "see how bad the cops are" if they would have been there and shot the guy. I would have said yes, they should have shot him after he said he had a gun and was reaching, but I'm sure there would be some who said otherwise. That is irrelevant and didn't happen. Right now...all that matters is the choice the cops make. Do the police want to be the good guys, or do they care more about their money? When they arrest this man for defending himself and his livelyhood, are they the good guys?
