DOT Approves New 1000-grain (2.3 oz.) Powder Containers « Daily Bulletin

Can someone explain this to me?

I usually buy 10 8lb kegs at a time, if I can find the powder I need.

Why would I want to pay more money, to buy these little midget sized containers of powder that will just barely give me 20rnds of 308? I see why it's good for powder manufacturers... but I can't see how it's good for us.

Accurate shooter seems to be the only source and there is nothing available from dot.gov. I'm calling 4/1 shenanigans until another source is found.

If it's not an April fool joke, it's still BS. As long as powder is still available by the 8 pounder and 1 pounder that's the way I'm going with it. If it's real, it won't last long if nobody buys it. I've been coming up with conspiracy theories about 22LR recently anyway--like how the shipping outfits-UPS etc-are making a killing shipping a single brick of 22 because you're limited to only one per order. This only fuels my madness.......

If it's from DOT maybe they are saying there is no hazmat charge for shipping the small containers, thus allowing people to have a cheap way to test powders. Could be wrong, it's late and I didn't feel like reading it.

hogdon (i think it was them) actually had these about 12-15 years ago i remember seeing a small sample jugs
of a few of there powders.
    ^^^ This ^^^
An older range I hit sometimes still has some dusty ass ones for sale. I asked the owner and he stated the same thing. I could see these being very helpful back in the day pre interweb.

There will always be hazmat based on the material not the amount. The point is to order more than 1 small container of different powder to test.

Hodgdon came out with a 4 pack of 4 different powders so you wouldn't have to buy 4 # to develop loads with. I haven't seen those in a long time, I thought they just gave up trying to sell them.
April First or not , Maybe it should be introduced again, and maybe it will catch on with all the newbs and the never ending "tell me what to load because I want instant gratification and don't want to develop loads and work out the minutia on my own like a real handloader" threads.

The whole idea of not having to buy a pound is a useless promotion. If these fucking containers are gonna cost like double the amount you would normally pay for powder in a shit market, on top of a hazmat charge, you might as well buy a full pound. This will save nobody any money and just give everyone an excuse to jack up already jacked up prices. These piece of shit containers can conceivably go for $10 each. I hope for god's sake nobody buys these

I honestly don't know what to believe. Guys are saying they've seen these in the past. If it is true, there is nothing stopping the companies from skimming 1000 gr from an 8 lb container and selling it. So basically, they could have just found a way to get another few dollars per 8 lbs. I hope I am just being paranoid
