How long does it take for a new thread to be approved?

First it goes to the review board, many of whom do not work weekends, because they're paying back their debts to society.
Then, if approved, it's passed on to the Supreme Leader, who binge drinks until at least Wednesday afternoon.
So maybe by next weekend?

^^ Yep! ^^ Death by committee, etc. You are screwed. Just give up now, throw in the towel, and beg for mercy from the mighty Interweb Gods that you be forgiven of your sins for posting anything at all to begin with!! ;)

Joking aside, this same tired old topic has been beaten to death re: post approval/timing/etc.

The long and the short of it is that if you have a low post count, attempt to insert links, images, etc. in a post, and so on, your posts get queued for "approval" by LL because of issues with spammers, people skirting the rules re: selling, and/or shilling commercially without paying for the privilege to do so, etc. It generally gets done fairly quickly, but at times, can be a bit longer because folks have lives above and beyond the relatively insignificant task of approving posts. Just be patient. It isn't as if a review of anything by Rhineland is so earth-shattering that it can't wait a day or two for approval and posting if LL deems it appropriate. Don't take it personally or spend too much time fretting it.
