So let me get this straight, you can afford more than $10,000 worth of custom rifle set ups but bitch about ponying up the extra cash for a tripod that you can use on all of them as well as for a spotting scope or other glass? I mean honestly how many tripods does one person need?
Also why do you assume greed is the only motivation for the high price? They have employees and vendors to pay, a building and property taxes to cover and R&D to fund. All of that costs money and considering they moved locations in 2018 and continue to develop new equipment it’s clear they are putting money back into the business. Sure they could price them lower but since they are routinely sold out it appears the vast majority of their customers don’t have a problem with the price. Pretty sure the saying goes “If you have more work than you can handle you aren’t charging enough for your services”.
And if you think they are greedy then why is it not greedy for Leofoto to let RRS build the market & do the market research and R&D work before stealing their design, copying their site and paying their workers slave wages so they can offer the product cheaper with the intent to undercut RRS in the the market they helped build?
In my line of work I’ve bid against the Chinese on a few projects, the last one was a cast part with some machining done. Their selling price for the complete unit to the customer was cheaper than what I could get the raw casting for from a US based foundry.
I work in manufacturing. Fuck China.
Take it easy.

You're way behind, as a matter of fact the original creator spoke already about this and it's been debated without your asshole opinion. Who are you to tell me how many tripods I need? What's it to you? Are paying for it? You want to pay for my RRS tripods? Are you the new tripod police now? That no one knew about? Are you the one keeping track of my $$$ ? How entitled of you. I'll spend my $$$ where ever the fuck I deem necessary I already given my money to RRS and to Leofoto I would give more of my $$$ to RRS if they were cheaper, matter of fact, I'm thinking fatboy is next. I'm one of those RRS customers you speak of, but I'm only talking about greedy corporations, as if there's none!

That’s not true, plenty of companies are more than happy to move manufacturing off shore to save a buck or two.
It’s not just a US company thing but the entire world does it and usually the results are just as you’d expect.
Big business is as much to blame as the Government.
Just look at Tesla, they started a factory in China and now the Chinese electric car business is booming and rapidly overtaking Tesla in the EV market.

Not a free market if one side engages in industrial espionage, government subsidized price undercutting and other illegal practices by WTO rules. Just saying.

Heck, Silicon Valley’s THE model representative of people hijacking other people’s ideas and reaping huge profits out of it.
True, the Chinese probably stole some technology - but the great mass of it was through very legal means of technology transfer - sold by foreign corporations in exchange for cheap production and market access. Independent of that - they would probably have progressed on their own anyway. Only our prejudice would make us assume that they’re unable to.
We’re really no different and for a time were probably the best practitioners of such, and it’s naïve if not just poorly - informed to think otherwise.
So, yes - “Free Market” was probably a poor choice of words in glossing over the entire gestalt of things, just saying.

Yeah, you're right, it's such a "free market " globally.....Talk about niave..... I don't care enough to explain why China can do what it does and at our expense but it's definitely being enabled by our government at our peoples expense. We impose all of these rules and regs and exempt them from any of it.... yeah, that free market..... good grief.
