Him being armed and committing criminal mischief/vandalism/trespassing/malicious destruction of property seems like a good way to get a 556 double tap
They might have gave it some thought for a second as windows aren't cheap. could you imagine the call?

Me neither. But the sheriff still took exception to my trespassing sign that said violators would be shot, hung, set on fire & pissed on.
Something to consider if someone is actually messing with you, is adding IR illumination panels to your camera system so you can get really good images of the people.
Once you have that, you could setup something in the camera software based on zones, so if for example something goes over your fence it can send an alert as opposed to an animal crawling low under a fence etc.

If I can pick out a coyote or a bobcat in my pics under 10" away from the cam you will be able to tell what it is, and maybe specifically who it is. Don't expect a beautiful headshot that you can use for the police. The "subject" needs to be looking right at the cam for that to even be considered.
I wish you would have posted for game cam recommendations before ordering. At least we could have put you on the right path for reviews and testing that has been done.
I like this site. Not specifically for the ordering but they do some decent testing. Plenty of pics to show you the quality.

I have a friend who happens to be a pillar of society.
He has a 10 acre yard, out buildings the whole dream house.
Back in the late 80's before consumer electronics were abundant,some crack heads kept breaking in and stealing shit.
Nothing major, but the problem was they caused $5K-$10K worth of damage every time they broke in.
After being broken into a couple of times he decided to try catching them.
His property was clearly posted, he had filed numerous B&E reports and had genuine concerns because of all of the NFA stuff he has.
So, he caught these fuckheads coming OUT OF HIS SHOP.
He drew down on them with a 30-30, after he shot 2 of their tires off their car.
It's dark and these 3 black guys take off into the cornfields.

My buddy said "NO Let It Go", words that to this day he has regretted.
The following morning my buddies place was swarming with police, I seriously thought these dumb fucks came back and he killed them.

The 3 assholes had the balls to go to the sheriffs office and report the shooting.
My buddy got locked up hard, he was looking at half a dozen 1st degree felonies and losing about half a million in NFA stuff.
( Back in the 80's $500,000 was a lot of stuff ).
I posted the 10% of his million dollar bond, he took another 20K and threw it out the window on attorney fees.
So I guess what I am trying to say is you are either lucky of really full of shit, I think you're full of shit.
BTW, if you walk up on someone with a shotgun and start breaking shit be prepared to someone responding in kind.

Get a malinois and let it wander around at night. Ours knew the property line and did a great job at keeping unwanted beings from entering the property

If you have vultures nesting on your property they're usually good for scaring or at least make trespassers nervous in the day at night a dog either big or medium is good against vandal and two bit thieves but hardcore criminals will simply poison or mace them well hidden trip[wires attached to flares and other noise makers and cameras should work along with floodlights.
We started using Spypoint, the pics are really good, they get sent to your phone usually within about 2 minutes and so far have not had any trouble with them. I picked up several at Academy last year and this year both on the black friday sale for 99 bucks for the camera, you have to buy batteries and a mini sd card. Depending on the amount of pics it takes, batteries last about 2 months maybe 3, you get a handfull of pics for free, then they have a couple different plans pending on the amount of pics you want. The unlimited plan is 7 dollars a month if I remember right.

Ok, this isn’t real hard. Knock it off with trip wires and dumb shit. Buy a moultrie s50 game camera WITH security box and bolt it to something substantial. Hell, get 3. Set em to video mode for 30 second recording. Batteries will last months if high quality and not triggered every 30 minutes. I had 1200+ videos on one before my batteries quit. Set it on highest pixel rating too. 10 second trigger time(yeah, its awfully long, my only complaint with the camera) so make sure it can register someone coming up and still get them in the frame.

I am buying from Amazon, I can return what isn't going to work and I can easily test (which I think will be all of them) and keep trying them.

Most effective thing along these lines I've seen is sprinklers triggerd by motion detectors. Nothing fancy - people went where they shouldn't and they got a shower. Sensors looked like the ones for lights they sell at depot, etc. It was near my office downtown in a city and one bulding had some rare green space by it that was a little out of sight of most people passing by. Some people would go there to pee or whatever so the company set up the sprinkler system and the probelm ended. Not much risk of legal action against the property owner.
All the "protected by some gun..." signs are just stupid - and it lets them know theres something worth stealing.
Dogs are good for warning but risky - we had a Malinois and Staff Terrier for years and nobody in the yard but, then again, never had issues before of after having dogs either.
These days pretty much anything that happens to anyone on your property is your problem and could likely land you in both criminal and civil court. Even if criminal charges are dropped or reduced, the civil side could be devastating financially. Years ago my (now) wife and I were out walking around her neighborhood and a bunch of emergency vehicles had just showed up at a residence. Odd mix of animal control, EMS, and police so we were kind of curious what went down. Local news followed the story. In the end, the owner of the dogs got 15+ years for murder since they did not intervene adequately. The victim was not tresspassing but lived in the building. There were extenuating circimstances as the dog that attacked was known to be aggressive and there was some apparent malice or something along those lines. Civil suit paid over a million as I recall.

There are wifi cameras in 1080p that will last 6 months on a charge. The picture shouldn't be the primary concern, but the motion tracking and notifications. I have cameras overlooking my whole property and they only get viewed by me if I get a notice that something has tripped their motion sensor. Even then, I'm not looking hard at footage until after I've cleared the area. I can get away with this now since my cameras can differentiate human posture from animals.
If you care about cyber security too, then you can look for a closed loop system.

So new game cam #1 arrived and is in place in the back, I went and walked around out there a bit tonight, will grab the memory card tomorrow and see what it finds. The camera cannot be seen easily, someone would need to stop and scan with a flashlight to find it
Having a camera to just send an alert on human motion would be good (maybe I am too worried about getting a face shot) if my phones were not fucking going off non-stop all night long. I put them in silent so I can get sleep. I could get another phone I guess that would be for camera alerts only, need to think about that one a little more, its a good idea and then the fucking cats would not be waking me up all night like with the driveway sensors. I have a few old phones not in service, can probably just set one of those up on wifi...hmmmm (see I knew you guys would get me going on better and more ideas)

Two of these cams are 3072x2048 resolution and are clear, I can see faces IN THE DAYLIGHT, at distance, but not that great at night. The 3rd is 2048x1080, its ok at distance (see cat pic, that cat is easy 30 feet from the cam at night) The dark area past the grass behind the cat is the 40 foot drop, cat comes up that, have seen him with a mouse in his mouth lol

I would make sure the property is properly marked no trespassing, then set up some arlo motion cams. Once you get a motion notification call the sheriff and have them picked up

One thing you can do is put the camera up 8 - 10 ft high in the tree angled a little bit down . yes you have to have a ladder to check it , but makes it pretty hard to steal and/or damadge if the perp was to see it
Now before I get flamed , yes it takes more work setting it up and is more limited with the beam being triggered but IT DOES WORK .

Some smart phones will allow you to create a white list within a range of hours that you select. My wife has this set up so it will only ring at night if the caller is on the list.

Police pretty much said unless WE see him on your property there isn't much we can do. They sort of confirmed but didn't confirm that I can only shoot him if he breaks into the house (it was an odd conversation) but I can't do anything to him in the yard until they properly tresspass him, which is never going to happen.
You all can laugh at the booby traps all you want, I am just trying to scare him away and prevent more vandalism, the trip wire that did explode I am confident scared him as no damage was done that night.
