I'm mystified why law enforcement thinks that are somehow above reproach or criticism? Why they think their job is tougher than anyone else's? Cops do not have one of the top 10 most dangerous jobs in America. They are not demonstrably more honest than normal people. I've seen corrupt cops in action, so I know for a 100% certainty they take bribes, they aid drug traffickers, pimps and criminals.

I lived two doors away from a house where local street thugs operated, it took some persuasion to make them understand how important it was to leave me alone. If you called law enforcement on them, even after they had beat a woman unconscious and left her lying in the street. it took between 45 minutes and a week to get help. One of them got doped up and tried to kick in my front door and it went very wrong for him,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,when his gangster buddies called the cops, they made it there in under 90 seconds.

The two crooked cops that showed up were upset that I had upset their friends and made no bones about it.

I tend to support law enforcement in general and the job they do, but a five page crying fest about how they are above criticism is a bit much.

I think we all know there are bad apples in every group. The problem lies with too many people painting with a broad brush, Hell I’ve been guilty of it as well. Just as gun owners don’t all want to be labeled terrorists because we own what some call evil guns used by the worst of society, police officers don’t want to be lumped in as being one and the same as some of their bad apples. I can understand that. However, I think it is very important to call out wrongdoing for what it is, when you see it. Nobody should be above the law, period. I think most of us here are ok with that. It’s when things go beyond that, that takes it to an inappropriate level I.e. I would never wish intentional harm or encourage it on any of my brothers and sisters whether it be police, reg Joe or military or anyone else. I have no patience for that. All should keep in mind tho that whenever bad things are pointed out and discussed, that the police or anyone else is doing, that’s not a personal attack on one group. We all know there are plenty of good guys still out there.

That is how it was done in the past and I don't think it should change now as that system worked well.

I do realize that things such as hiring practices and affirmative action are not the same now as they were years ago but do know that "Police your own Ranks" worked well in the past not only in LE but in the Military as well, to great effect and needs to be in the thought process of EVERY LEO on here.

I was the one that said that the dirty Narco cop in Houston that lied for the warrant, planted evidence and murdered two innocent people in thier own home needed to take the long sleep.
I have family that are LEO and have had friends over the years that are and most if not all of them would feel the same towards a scumbag like that.
I have no hatred for PO I trust them the same as any other person I don't know which is not at all until earned.
I have said before I have no use for the police since I don't drive like an idiot and mind my own business I have no interaction with them other than the occasional pleasantries I give all people in public since that is the way I was raised.
If I offended anyone by suggesting that the dirty murderous Narco cop had stolen enough oxygen I'm not sure what that says about those it offended.
I view people of that caliber regarding the Houston Narco cop no different than a career criminal since they have forfeited any trust or credentials by thier actions regardless of profession.
I would think that it would anger the LEO community the most every time something like that happens or is brought into the public view considering it brings more scrutiny onto those that are doing everything in a lawful and honest way.
Again not hating on all LEO just the ones that have forfeited thier trust and any integrity they may have had, but we are all human and none are immune to the failings of human nature including myself.
