Most data on a "google search" are for the 175 SMK, so look at the Hodgdon and Nosler data sites. The 178 has more bearing surface that a 175 so as usual, start low "Accurate shooter" That 178 load looks damn STOUT

Loaded up some at 38.5 & 38.9, going to see how those shoot, doubt I’ll get any flat primers at those loads but who knows. I based them off of 175 SMK data so shouldn’t be to crazy.
When I started out loading in ‘06 I used 4895 and the 178 AMAX, I ended up at 41.8 grains. A good accurate load, I have 1k of those babies loaded up for a rainy day…
You could almost put the 178 ELDM on top of cornmeal and its going to shoot! I have two sub half MOA loads worked with this bullet. One with Varget ([email protected]) and one with Ramshot TAC ([email protected]). Crazy thing is Ramshot TAC has been a little more consistent with this bullet than Varget but both are solidly sub half MOA with SDs of less than 5 everytime I pull the trigger.
The 178 ELDm is now my everything 30 caliber bullet as Im usually picking bullets to serve double duty.
