Softcock, when you say NV compatible laser modules, what makes them NV compatible? I have two 980nm infrared laser modules and they are clearly visible with a cheapo big-5 nightvision unit. I am looking to buy a higher end night scope now and was wondering if I could use them with it.

The quality looks good (he claims they are assembled by engineers, not students) and he talks about how they are potted and has other laser devices that he says are for airsoft.
I like the idea of an IR illuminator with an adjustable beamwidth, don't care about the aiming laser really.

I should have said that more clearly . I mean "comparable' , in like between the 800-900 nm so as Not clearly visible to eye . but useful to NV .

but I tell you once you go to quality duel compact system with laser & focus beam it's hard to move away to less. They really shine for hunting @ night . NV laser is a pretty useful with the focus beam too as all-in-one package .

The InvisibleSight "PEQ-2A" is $360, and the "DBAL-A2" is $600 - I presume these are clones of mil NV gear. I'd like to find a Meyers IZLID, which would mount on my optics platform easily and has what I need, but they are rarish. You can do a search on eBay for "InvisibleSight" and find them.

i looked at the site with InvisibleSight . (Imho) they are most definatly a less robust plastic body'Mock-up' like airsoft . but 'To Me' I think & looks like guy does use a little better guts so to hold-up to some recoil .

Remember, if Customs finds it, you lose it, since it is not FDA approved for commercial sale. If it breaks, you are SOL.
Note that Laser Devices is selling a Class 1 DBAL now, low enought power to be FDA approved and otherwise mil-spec. No, it won't light up a target at 1500m or have a visible pointer at 2 miles, but it will work quite well inside a couple hundres yards.
Remember, if Customs finds it, you lose it, since it is not FDA approved for commercial sale. If it breaks, you are SOL.

At this years Shot Show, they listened to a few. Presently, they have released the DBAL-I2, OTAL and ITAL with a eye safe IR laser for ranges 75-100 yards. So everyone knows, these units are the SAME as the restricted counterpart DBAL/OTAL/ITAL units, nothing has changed with the body housings of the units, except for the IR laser output power. The great thing is, if they ever go down, they are covered with a FULL manufactures warranty. Nothing scary about owning these units or where they might have come from. If something every happens with them, they will NOT become an Airsoft look cool tool.
LDI IS trying to keep up with our demand. We're getting large batches in every other week and sell out quickly.
We are also working with them to get a IR Laser Handgun platform out to the masses as well. Thanks guys.

PS I've e-mailed two guys who bought the InvisibleSight DBAL-A2 and both say the build quality is excellent. One reported "<span style="font-style: italic">the DBAL unit works very well and is very well made. I was kind of surprised at the quality verses the price, the illuminator is a powerfull IR laser that's adjustable and the IR and red laser are fully adjustable, they hold up well to shock I tested mine on a 308 caliber rifle and it performed very well.</span>" Yeah, I know - it's still Chinese, albeit with US-made laser modules.
PPS Re the build quality of the InvisibleSight DBAL-A2 (very important to me), here are a few details from the manufacturer that are relevant:

HogRider - not to put words in Vic's mouth but I think the range represents Black v. Tan housing and Green v Red laser. I am assuming that a Tan and Green is going to be more than Black and Red. I could be way off.

You get full power vis laser -'high visible' is outstanding to cut an attention grabbing beam through the white light and is wholly different than looking at a Crimson Trace power level laser; plus you get a IR laser that is good enough for what is truly practical for most.

Uh, I don't think I'm wrong on this - the Insight DABAL-I2 has two aiming lasers (visible and IR), while the mil spec DBAL-A2 has two aiming lasers and a Class IIIb IR illuminator.
Since I need a bright IR illuminator, it's a big difference. I may have satisfied my need with a powerful IR LED lamp assembly for my Surefire that I just ordered.

The HK seller has been around a while and you can find actual video footage of the DBAL/PEQ clones in operation. The bodies are well made as are the mounts supplied and they are identical to the real thing. The lasers used are far lower powered than the MILSPEC items yet still illuminate well and certainly get out to well beyond 100-200yds.
These may have been designed for large wallet airsoft use but are good enough for most civillian centrefire and rimfire rifle shooters.

The YouTube video of the Chinese DBAL is not the InvisibleSight model - too bad the poster wasn't more specific. The InvisibleSight DBAL-A2 high power model has a 25mw IR illuminator with a 5mw low-power mode.

that's looks pretty good output for the InvisibleSight units.
if you read the specs. for (example) peq-15 - the IR beam illumination is 3.5 mW Low & 30 mW High . the IR Laser pointer is 600 uW low & 25 mW High . all on the 850nm IR frequency .
with 4 mW for visible red/laser

if you look @ for (example) the ATILLA it goes u to 50 mW on the laser High power & 150 mW on the Illumination beam .

that's looks pretty good output for the InvisibleSight units.
if you read the specs. for (example) peq-15 - the IR beam illumination is 3.5 mW Low & 30 mW High . the IR Laser pointer is 600 uW low & 25 mW High . all on the 850nm IR frequency .
with 4 mW for visible red/laser
I don't understand when reading the power designation listed for the (low power IR Laser pointer) ? it says<span style="text-decoration: underline"> <span style="font-weight: bold">600 uW</span></span> . what is ( uW ) ???

From what I been seeing with Laser Diodes and the quality they project through there units that house them .
There is a difference in them as for how clean & sharp they look to the NV eye .
lesser priced lasers I have used are Not that 'Clean' on the beams footprint on objects and are bigger MOA on the footprint also .
Where as high-$$ dollar units are smaller and crisp/clean & smaller MOA in size on the footprint with the NV eye .
Not to say that the cheaper is unusable, but just there is a difference in qualities .
& I have never actually looked @ the ' InvisibleSight ' models . So I can not comment on them for what they look like under NV .

600uw is just 0.6mw - a little less than one milliwatt.

The units that company sells are Airsoft bodies with quality modules and the electronices have been potted for recoil. JUNK. Don't purchase any of the China made products. All you will be is mad, PERIOD. For an Illuminator purchase Vics from TNVC. The DaTorch is the BEST IR LED based unit out there for distance. Close Quarter use a Surefire M1. I use the Surefire for the woods with my PVS-7's. There are some Russian Illuminators on Ebay that are decent. They have around 90mW output power and are built well. Dipol is the name. If you want to build you own IR laser check out an article on AR15.com. Look under Inexpensive IR Laser. It's based on a Beamshot 1000 with a Module from US Lasers(850nM @ 5mW max). The person posted step by step instructions on how to take the Beamshot apart and the correct module to order.
