I upgraded my phone to an iPhone 5s. I now have the iPhone 4 and it is like new. Would it be any advantage to use it as a designated ballistic app device? If so how and what apps? Would I gain anything over just using my new phone?
I am an experienced shooter, but know next to nothing about ballistic apps ect. Any positive input will be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Keep it on one phone. No need to keep two phones maintained and charged. The time you forget to charge the 4 will be the time you need it. Always works that way. I use the Ballistic AE, very happy with the results.

Frankly, unless you have a real need for the extra features of Ballistic AE, the $10 version of ballistic is equally as good as Shooter for most applications. There is a thread here somewhere that discusses this very thing. I shoot with a good friend and he uses Shooter, I use Ballistic. I have no reason to say that one is better than the other as we compare and our dope is so similar as to make no difference up to 1000 yds. Truly, I am relatively new at this and won't speak as an expert, but that is what I've noticed.

Regular Ballistic also will "fetch environmental data at your location, Barometric pressure and temp and altitude" so service on your phone is still a necessary item for use if you are planning on needing LR dope.

However since I'm still new at this, I'll fall back on the advice of a recent instructor and remind you that batteries can fail, so still keep your dope cards up to date and on you as a back up.
