Man you would think that Bass Pro Shops ate purposely trying to put themselves out of business . Since the took over Cabelas the prices have gone effin crazy . I loved Cabelas but I'll be fucked if I'm going to pay what these morons are charging . I will occasionally buy from a local small shop or two just to support and hopefully keep amall shopa open . I'll knowinvly pay more for this but I thought that the uber mega super atorea were supposed to at least be competitive. I was just looking at some Lee reloading stuff and holy crap . I wouldn't be surpriswd if they were more expensive than the Lee website. WTF

It was allways the same with Gander mountain, thier prices sucked especially on ammo.
They would however price match and I saved a shit load of money on certain things doing that, mostly camping and fishing equipment.

I need to check Cabelas approved online price match policy since I am really wanting a Tikka T3X lite in 65 Creedmoor to streamline the calibers I load for and hunt with. That means I may end up letting my beloved 270win go.

The closest Cabela’s is on Tulalip Tribes land. In addition to ridiculously high prices, Cabelas are required to collect “sales tax”, equal to Washington state sales tax (~ 10%). Except, none of it goes to Washington state residents, it all goes to the Tribe. Fuck Cabelas, their overpriced shit and the Tulalips with their tax that has zero benefit to “Whitey”. I buy from LGSs and at least a little of the sales taxes patches some potholes in our roads once in a while.

Bass Pro ruined Cabelas. They fired everyone in the corporate office in Sidney. I've been in three different Bass Pro stores, including Springfield and Branson, and never bought anything. The prices are outrageous. Cabelas was over priced before Bass Pro as well, but not as bad as they are now.

Dick Cabela is turning in his grave.

He was a fine gentleman and would have preferred to employee people in Sidney and make less profit.

He was pretty hands off the last few years and was still adamant about having integrity in the business

I can only compare Harrisburg , Pa Bass Pro and Hamburg , Pa Cabelas . Bass Pro's selection sucks as do the prices . Hopefully this strengthens and ultimately brings back the Mom and Pop stores .

I needed primers two weeks ago. I needed them the next day. Cabellas, 15 min drive, didn’t have them. Local gunshop, 40 min drive, had them @ $85 for a box. Nobody had h4895, fuck em all. I need to stay on top of my supply via online ordering. LGS said they could order it.. probably $275 per jug.

Yup. The Brick and Mortar business models are not gonna do well anymore...I love to support the local places or Name Brand stuff when I can but if they can;t be competitive price wise I have to buy online and price shop that way.

RIP, Gander Mountain, Dick's, Cabellas, Bass Pro Shops and the others.

Holy mother a pearl . $85 bucks for a box of primers . Man I thought my local guy leaned on me when I paid $35 for Winchester small pistol primers . Where do you live in the Brooks Range . They gotta fly that shit in ?

Gave up on Cabela's YEARS ago. Never give them or BPS a second thought. Was SO excited when we were getting our Cabela's up in Lacey. Made the trip up there, which I hate, and couldn't have been more disappointed. Had hardly anything I'd even consider wearing/using other than some Sitka hunting clothing that was/is so fucking over priced it's nauseating. Prices on everything was way outta bounds, shelves not stocked, and only redeeming factor of even being in there was the bone and full body mounts. Done with'm and don't even consider them when shopping. Hmmpf. ;)

Fuck !!! Even my hiking boots are Columbia . Got one pair that wore like Iron and fit great . Saw another on sale couple years ago so I bought em . Welp no more Columbia anything in this household .
Yeah, sorry, not trying to shit in your mess kit.......The woman that owns Columbia is from/in Portalnd OR and is rabid anti 2A. Fuck her and her brand.
Me ? No more Levi's, Nike, Dick's, Hollywood, ad nauseum, etc....Even the Wranglers that I'm wearing may be subject to permanent boycott.

I live 5 minutes from a Cabelas, used to stop in 2-3 times a week, not anymore. Prices are to high on any gun related items, guns are expensive and try and trade one in your just gonna get fucked, I tried once and laughed in their face at their shit offer ( 200.00 TRADE IN VALUE ON A BHP for a 1911 Springfield RO). Now I got the CC so I do get the points and they do have some good deals on in store only sales once in awhile. Their return policy has also tightened up and its hit and miss there to. It's a shame because I really like Cabelas before the take over.

May sound petty to some but we need to make a list of these companies.
Maybe we can talk Tuck into making a sticky.
Past time we quit financing those who would see us disarmed.

Well if BP "bought" Cabelas... they are looking to get their purchase price back... and guess who is paying it..... Customers.
Seems to be what happens when someone buys out another place.

I mainly used to go to Cabelas for the deals they had on Ammunition, I guess I'll have to see what they have now and if it's best just to mail order it all.

I still remember Cabela's as a catalog in the 80's. Bass Pro is a place to get a need right now or buy something on sale.

At least they aren't going the way of Dick's. I remember driving to Ohio from Virginia and looking forward to going to Dick's for reloading supplies. Dick's is going the way of Sports Authority and K-Mart.

Not petty at all. Used to piss me off every time I was in an airport and I saw cnn on. Turner was buying up huge parcels of land in MT, using everyone else’s money, including mine to do it. Fuck him, fuck them, they all deserve to go broke and to have to scrub toilets for a living.

I have to read up in the wrangler thing. Had no idea.
They are one brand that fits me well.

I prefer American made and to support businesses owned by folks who believe in the Constitution.
If they are as conservative as me, great, and thats pretty unlikely here in CO.....

Me too.....I read recently from unknown/unvetted person that Wrangler had donated to anti 2A forces. Need to clarify/confirm. Levi’s are already off the list of acceptable vendors. Hate to see Wrangler go the same route, but if so, so be it.

That blows. Wranglers and boots with a good wool jacket just works for me.

    And pisses of libs.... ?

Need an old blued Smith 60 with nice wood grips in leather from my holster guy. Just stay old school.

I will see if I can find anything. May ask Veer for help as I cant find anything on the net not about shooting, hunting, or cooking......

When internet sales tax becomes across the board for every state, LGS can make a comeback. Be their choice if they want to continue to stay above decent pricing. I buy exclusively online today, at some point, it should even out.
If anyone thought a BPS takeover of Cabela's was going to be positive thing, whew, BPS shit the bed starting around 1999.

Every time I go in Cabelas I get pissed off. Went in last week because I wanted to pick up a box of small rifle primers. As always, nothing but pistol primers and Rem primers at nearly $8/100. Could have got 1K CCI BR4s for about $42 which I would have said fuck it and paid, but no, sold out. Wanted to load some 75gr BTHP to shoot this weekend because the weather was nice.

To hell with them, they are overpriced. They hardly ever have anything in stock. Only thing I go there for is reloading stuff in a pinch or maybe some cheap 55gr if theres a deal. At least my trip wasn't totally wasted, they had a bottle of XBR 8208 for $20 with a torn label.

Just ordered my primers online, about the only choice I've got since they cant stock but 1k CCI primers every week.

Bargain cave and gun counter to finger bang what I'll order in, that's about the limit for me at either store, outside of fishing gear. I buy fly gear from fly shops, but I'll hit up BPS or Cabela's for my spinning gear, and even then typically only if on sale.

Cabela's was useful when you could get gift cards at $80 for $100 value. Combing that with the occaional 10-15% cashback and when they had Club member 10% on top of all that. Got my NF 7-35 for ~38% off.

Recently though, Cabela's is just not worth it.

Cabelas and BPS are having huge merging issues (or so I'm told). Too bad; they used to be a good store (Cabelas). These days Scheel's seems to be coming on strong. Decent prices (sometimes high, but great sales), and they tend to stock a full reloading supply in the store in Billings, MT. Gun prices tend to be pretty reasonable.
