Is the 6GT more compelling to YOU now that it has factory ammo?

Does factory (Hornady / GA Precision collab) ammo support matter to you?

It doesn't do much for me. I have a 6GT that I keep just in case things get hairy on the supply end. The factory ammo is a nice fail safe but I definitely won't willingly switch away from my BRA. The biggest advantage to reloading is having the ability to tune your speed. We're seeing more people run slow 6's now for a reason.

I think you're overpaying for your components. $130 for Alpha brass? Bluecollar Reloading is selling Lapua for $98 a hundred. Alpha isn't that great in my opinion. I'd much rather shoot Lapua. $40 for Hornady bullets?

$125+shipping for Alpha GT brass since Lapua is not available. Could go Hornady but high ES and SD's.

$37+tax for 6mm 108 ELDM's.
That's been the going rate since 2019.

Barnes 105gr are a decent option for me at $28 per 100. Groupings are meh...

A couple things I've gotten thus far in this:
1- It's going to be at least Q3 of next year before any of this hits a shelf near you, maybe later. After all, all the GAP and Hornady sponsored shooters will theirs first and have to get the social media post out about how magical it is, then it'll be available to us peasants.

2- WTF does the price 6.5mm bullets and antique ass primers have to do with factory 6GT ammo?

You're the first person I've heard talk about not being able to load better than factory.
Me too.

With all due respect, you might try finding a local mentor and get this straightened out. You should definitely be reloading at least as good as factory….and enjoying the benefits of adjusting the variables to get the perfectly tuned load for your needs. I‘m with you in the sense that if a factory offering shoots as well as you need, reloading becomes a huge time suck for little gain.

Also, great avatar. We had Dachsunds all of through my childhood. Best little dogs on the planet.
100% agreed on Dachshunds. No offense taken - there's a tremendous amount of room for improvement.

Consistency is king, so the same predictable round that shoots the same over and over again is way better than factory stuff that makes small groups but is different box to box, lot to lot.

Sometimes guys forget that low SD's isn't always about the best recipe or components, and these rifles are built for more fun than paper at 100 yards provides anyway. If you can make ammo that is super consistent, then, much like pizza, even when it's bad it's good.
I'm not sure how you're defining consistency in this context.

Being able to bring the "same ammo" with you every time you go shooting is good.

IMHO it's not hard to load ammo that outperforms factory just by keeping one's "assembly line" consistent and turning out the "same round" over and over, even if it's not turning out the absolute best load ever. Factory ammo just isn't as consistent, and has looser standards than one can impose at their own reloading bench is all.

Factory ammo? No.

This rainbow-themed ammo wallet, though? Maybe ...
