Hi fellow Hide members...first I wanna say that this is one very kool and awesome site for info and sharing what we all love doing.

Has anyone here played with that app and your comments about it?...Looks pretty good for recreation and exploring.Im doing a new build on a 6.5 x 47 on a Bolt gun and thinking about dropping some coin on a Hensoldt 4-16x56 FL.I love my NXS and my Zeiss scopes so think im goin to pull the trigger on the Zeiss.I have the 8x45 victory RF Binos and I want to play around with some ballistic programs for recreation and long range target work.

Re: isnipe and the I phone 4

Welcome to the Hide.

These ballistics programs work very well.

You will find the most popular ones for the iphone are

- Knights Armament Bulletflight
- Ballistic FTE

I myself use bulletflight, but im so impressed by these programs i will likely buy FTE as well to try it out.

If you have a chronograph, or can access one, all you need is a correct muzzle velocity, ballistic coefficient for your projectile, plus a proper rifle set-up in the program and away you go.

If you have a Kestrel handy its even better.

Cant say ive used isnipe, but im sure it works okay too.

Re: isnipe and the I phone 4

Thanks Vin...glad to be on board.Yes Ive seen KAB but havnt played with it but looks pretty interesting. The FTE I might try that one.I do have a chono but hav only used it for my 6MMbr but only used it on our 300 yd range. We do have a 600 yd range but never shot my 6br on that one.I look forward to working on the 6.5 in great detail tho.

Im glad to hear that you like how BF works I'm going to look into it.

Sounds good jackal.

Range doesnt matter when it comes to using your ballistics calc... just set up the chrony at the proper distance from your bench and test your loads.

Use that MV and you should be good to go.

Also, regarding this thread, it really should have gone in the 'Hide Equipment' subforum, but im sure a mod might move it for you.

Re: isnipe and the I phone 4

I have both KAC Bulletflight and Ballistic FTE.

I feel that Ballistic is the better program and it's my "go to" for shooting. If something doesn't look right I will cross it with Bulletflight, but I have yet to find a problem with the calculations from Ballistic.

I have not tried iSnipe because frankly I have no need to buy another app. Ballistic FTE works very well.

I just wish they wold come up with a more subdued HUD for night use. The "night" skin really doesn't dim things down much.

Re: isnipe and the I phone 4

I have Isnipe and Ballistic FTE and both are very accurate. I tend to use Isnipe a little more often only because I find it a little quicker but you cant go wrong with either. Also a friend at the range recommended a long range shooting program, sort osf a simulator, called "SHOOTER READY" and though its no substitute for trigger time it works great in combination with your ballistic computer and will help you get aquainted with them use prior to hitting the range.

Re: isnipe and the I phone 4

oops! sorry your right about this ? should be asked in EQ. Good info and gonna look up on these other Apps.I like Isnipe's layout but will see when my build is done.

Re: isnipe and the I phone 4

I have BulletFlight myself and after using it, i can see the value in ballistic. One thing that i don't believe you can do with Bulletflight... is have the range chart saved with each profile for what the unit of measure the scope is... meaning - if i turn on mrads - it shows in mrads... even though the weapon profile is saved as 1 moa. And for my .1 mrad click scopes, i put .344 moa as the click value... but chart display, again, is not changed, or you have to remember to change it to what ur using each time.

Sorry, i've never used isnipe - i'm going to take a look at that too... but i, myself, am going to download ballistic fte and compare.

Re: isnipe and the I phone 4

I have both BulletFlight and Ballistic FTE. For me, the BulletFlight is about all I use. I find it much more user friendly. They aren't expensive - get both and see which works best for you.

Yes but you will have to put in current conditions vs the iphone updates them.

Re: isnipe and the I phone 4

I have puted the current weather conditions but I don't know how to save them as my zerroed conditions in order to use them when I go to another plase with different weather conditions

I believe Ballistic FTE does, although you cannot pull the weather unless you are on WiFi.</div></div>
I confirm: both Bullet Flight v4.0 and Ballistic FTE v2.5.2 work perfectly fine on iTouch-4 with iOS v4.3.2. And indeed you can't pull weather from weather stations unless you are on Wi-Fi.

Might add that when I'm on a shoot, I always input the on-the-spot conditions from my Kestrel rather than from a weather station located who knows how far. It may be that the variations of a few degrees and a few tenths of inHg won't matter much - I just prefer to deal with the exact numbers when I can.

I believe in Ballistic FTE there are configuration parameters that tell the program where to take the weather data from - separately for zeroing and current weather.

All of them are still available.

KAC Bulletflight sucks...it lacks most of the usable features of FTE and shooter, and costs more.. get FTE or Shooter

with shooter 9.99$ and what it can do, i would say it is the king of the apps right now..

Re: isnipe and the I phone 4

I use iSnipe. It's a full featured program for around $9.00. I haven't tried others so I can't weigh in with comparisons, but I like it and does all I need it to do.
