Rifle Scopes Issue with NightForce nx8

I have 2 of them, no issues. The eyebox is sensitive, but with proper posture and good repeatable cheek weld, it's a non issue. The parallax dial will need constant attention. Which it always should when shooting long range, this one just needs adjusting a lot more than longer bodied 4-5x erector systems. Once you get in the habit, it's also a non issue. But does eat up time if you're on thr clock or trying to kill game with short time window. I've been pretty happy with mine. I rarely use below 6x, or above 26x. The scope a perform the best in this mag range in my opinion.
That sounds great on your NX8s. I take it that it tracks well for you. I was skeptical with the 8x in the same size tube. Congrats

So your honestly telling me u think this conversation is completely unknown by any nf rep? Come on.....
The only way I could see them knowing is if a buddy of a NF higher-up noticed this thread and let them know. Otherwise how would the possibly know this thread exists? If they don't have an active forum presence then they don't have an active forum presence...

I am very interested in seeing how this plays out. I have used and dealt with NF for several years and the OP experience seems extremely out of character for NF. I have never know NF to have a presence on here; however if they do, I personally would not expect any kind of response from them in an open public forum. Please remember that they have been served civil suit paperwork. If any of you were in that situation (being sued); I can guarantee that your attorney would advise you to not make any public statements in regards to the situation. That is just common sense In the legal world.

With all that being said, I do agree that it appears, on its face, that the OP has done more than enough to show that there is an issue with the scope. I hope it gets worked out.

Seriously?? It would take 10 seconds to link the discussion to their CS.............
there is no doubt they know about this issue.

It's 2020. If you run a firearm related business - there's a thread about your product. Sorry to brown-nose, but SnipersHide is the current pre-eminent forum for precision rifle. Not to mention that this thread has been linked in other Hunting forums. If NF doesn't know this thread exists, it's because they are actively trying to not know.

Even Gunwerks fired up a few accounts when their bankruptcy scandal was in full swing. I wouldn't say that this forum is Gunwerk's meat and potato demographic, but they were smart enough to know that a couple quick comments goes a long ways.

Bummer to hear. Was about to buy a nx8 and went looking for reviews. Glad I found this. I worked at an FFL for 6 years and seen every manufacturer has issues at times, no big deal there. Some handle it really well, leupold, Ziess and vortex come to mind. Some don’t.
For those that are saying “we are only seeing one side”. Yeah maybe we are, so what? If a customer is that unhappy with the product, replace it. I’ve broken leupolds by falling on them and they have replaced them with a current model. I’ve sent back ziess optics on the word of a customer and it was mounting issues. Then the zeiss rep just responded “well we are just glad the customer is happy with the product, thank you for your business”. Even if the customer is wrong, replace the scope with a new one. Now if it happens again and it’s on them dig your heals in. Until then the manufacture owes the customer, the customer doesn’t owe the manufacture. They bought not only a product but also a warranty and factory backed customer service that should see an issue through.

You can defend the product but if you defend a company your just brand myopic and encouraging poor business practices.

I somewhat understand the nightforce can’t reply now because there is a law suit. But don’t you think they could at least say that! Also they should have said something long before the law suit. And the excuse of no presence on this forum doesn’t really cut it for me. How hard can it possibly be?

When I asked if they send there scopes, for free, to anyone hear to be reviewed what I was getting at is if they do that, I I believe they do, then they should pay attention to these forums.

Either way is disappointing. No prescience is disappointing. No response to this thread is disappointing. Give they guy 100% of what he is asking for. Lawsuit problem solved. And then respond to this thread. Their silence speaks volumes.

Lowlight please tell us what you know.

So I just received the BRAND NEW Atacr and there are scuff marks on the scope body? WTF? This is the 3rd NF scope I brought and first time saw this.
Something is going down in NF recently. I can’t believe they will let scope like this went out the factory.

does anyone has experience like this? I don’t believe NF will replace it assuming cosmetic doesn’t affect performance

Nightforce will tell you to pick up a Dykem matte black paint pen and touch it up.

nah, they did that before it left the factory. Saved me couple bucks

What? I’m confused. What did NF do before it left the factory that saved you money? On one hand you’re asking about others’ experience with it, seemingly surprised that this happened but your latest reply seems to be telling a different story.

I believe you are right, NF is suspiciously absent here.
Several years ago I had a problem with a lot# of Berger bullets, I was just asking in another forum (in which I am now banned...lrh) about their QC tolerance. Before their customer service could return my call Eric Stecker responded to the thread and arranged to replace my lot of 1200 105gr Hybrids.

I’m just pissed and frustrated. Paid full price and got a blem. Should even got out of the manufacture facility. I actually found 4 spot there were pain filled but i only posted 1 spot.
Part of their QA/QC, from what I understand, is hitting it with a hammer and dropping it, which is where the "blems" come from. I would honestly say if you want your scope to arrive to you looking completely immaculate, you should never buy a nightforce because of their violent QA/QC process. Personally I kinda dig that QA/QC process.

Hopefully the OP and NF work it out.

So out of curiosity did you contact the vendor you bought it from?? I would think they would want to make it right.
That for sure should be sold as a blem as it is by definition.

I contacted the vendor right away when I received my scope last night, as of right now, got no response yet. Hopefully he will today.

I got two NF previously and it wasn’t like that. I see what you saying, but wouldn’t you save money by just purchase a demo or used one?

I’ve been down this same road with NF and I will never buy another scope from them because of how it was handled.

My issue was with a 5-25 ATACR F1. At around the 40 round mark it went out of focus and I couldn’t get it to focus back. I called NF and they asked me if I focused it and how I focused it and told me I must be focusing it wrong and don’t know what I’m doing. Completely ignoring the fact that the scope was focused and went out of focus after a shot because something clearly fucked up inside the optic. Not to mention at the time I also owned another identical scope, 2-3 4-16x42 ATACR F1’s and 13 3.5-15x50 F1’s which all focus the same way and I had zero issues with.

NF gave me a lot of resistance but finally issued an RMA and let me send their POS back. I got the scope back a few weeks later with a work order saying they adjusted the parallax. The scope was still fucked up and I couldn’t get it to focus. Either the image would be in focus but parallax would be way off or parallax would seem to be free but image and reticle would be out of focus. I again called NF who told me I don’t know how to focus an optic despite me telling them that I have another identical scope plus over a dozen other of their scopes which I have zero problems with getting focused. They flat out denied letting me send it back.

I sold it at a huge loss with a disclaimer and sold every other NF I owned. I was a huge NF supporter for years because I believed the best warranty is the one you never need... Well, everything can break and good fucking luck getting it fixed if it’s a NF.

Sorry members, I might have haijack the thread. If I make anyone uncomfortable, I’ll open a new thread on this issue

That’s probably a good idea. Think the OP’s situation is still unresolved so wouldn’t want to muddy the waters any further.

Plus it seems NF has has a rash of these QC issues recently so additional threads may get their attention (long shot but nothing to lose)

It's not used or a demo. It's a deliberate impact as a part of their QA/QC.

I think these QC issues might come from their recent surge in gov contracts? It's a shame but it's also the trend with optic manufacturers. Ie, people started receiving poo poo mk5's after leupold got picked for the new army rifle. I still like NF stuff.

If anyone now spits in the direction of your NightForce because of this forum thread, please let me know what spiteful discount you would sell them for.

I wouldn’t leave NF because of this thread

I left NF today because of shitty quality control on government sales let alone civilian ....when I order optics and they come in jacked up for any amount of money I sense something going on badly within the company...covid is no excuse ... I hope they pull it together

My issues were July 2017, this isn’t a rona thing, their CS has been shit for years. I know others who have had similar issues too.

This isn't in defense of NF and shouldn't be taken as such.. but they probably get, what, maybe a hundred calls or emails a week saying "my scope doesn't track" or a line similar to that. When they know they all passed a QC tracking test prior to leaving Idaho. It's probably hard to take all the fudds super-seriously.

I don't think that's the case here and the OP has done a good job of isolating and confirming the issue is with the optic.

Not that it matters, but my experience with NF CS was very professional and personable.
I believe this is the issue. I whole heartedly believe they get a ton of people complaining about zero issues just like me and 9/10 (or more) are due to fudd error. In all fairness to them they did see some rings on my scope body so of course the first time they assumed I’m just an idiot and couldn’t mount it right.

As I said before to be fair to them, they did test it. I can definitely see why they would think it was operator error. But that doesn’t change the fact that it wasn’t, and from that point on it was to just shutting me down and saying case closed, not our problem.

Of course they know about this thread. I served them papers officially over a month ago, received their official court reply contesting my case, and then the day after I put that video up they suddenly contacted me wanting a resolution. #karenpower

I received an email directing me to their legal team to settle outside of court. It sounds like they are on track to make it right finally.

Glad your finally going to get this settled. A few years ago I ordered a set of NF rings to mount a new scope for an upcoming hunting trip from a big name vendor, rings showed up with one of the top ring screws rattling around the package. One of the scope rings has no threads in the hole where the top cap screws into. Not sure how it passed QC, rings were brand new in factory packaging. Oh well, shit happens. Contacted the vendor, no more in stock. Ok, got a bit of time before the hunting trip so I call Nightforce and explain my situation, hoping they would send me a set out and I’d return the defective set to them. The guy on the phone seemed pissed that I’m bothering him and tells me to take it up with the vendor. Kind of left a bad taste in my mouth about purchasing one of their scopes. If they didn’t care about a set of factory fubar’d $185 rings what’s going to happen if I have an issue with one of their scopes.

Just getting to reading the replies. Jesus Christ dude... I hate to say that jacked up situation makes me feel better so I’ll just say I’m glad I’m not alone? Yeah guys, I still I can’t figure out how to turn a ring and a knob.🤦🏻‍♂️

Congrats man, friggin bull caca their warranty isn't as good as vortex, athlon and others.

Nightforce, I hope you've learned to treat customers better. As expensive as their scopes are they should have a "no questions asked" return policy
