Most of you probably know of Jon's 14.9mm rifle from the infamous 5000+ meter thread. Well, Jon showed up to our shop on Monday with this beast. 59 long hours later, the largest XLR to ever exist is alive on this beast. It is 1 AM and Jon just left our shop headed to California to test this animal. This thing is just plain awesome. I admire the countless hours and money that Jon devoted to this project. I wish him all the best. I definitely wish I could be there to shoot this beast!

I noticed that in the original thread too. Pretty awesome I must add as well.

Re: It Lives! Largest XLR ever!!!

Looks like a hell of a job.

I have shot a lot of rifles in my life. This sits squarely in the category of rifles I have no interest in. Probably something to do with my Infantry background and humping too much shit for too long.

However I do appreciate the work that went into it and Kyle's willingness to push the envelope.

Cue Noel bitching in 5,4,3,2,1....

Just kidding. That thing is awesome! I'm really looking forward to the test videos. Two things I'm wondering about are the picatinny rail for the scope seems really wide. Will that beast of a cannon require special Badger Max-5000 rings? Also, the rail height vs. cheek pad height seem a little off. Is there enough adjustment in the cheek AND shoulder pads?

I'm not trying to piss in your cereal or anything, I'm sure yall got it figured out. I'm just curious!

Re: It Lives! Largest XLR ever!!!

Holy smokes, that really puts this project into scope for size!

Love me some LRA bipods... I have a feeling it will do just fine on there. I've seen the company owner stand on them and jump up and down on the front of his rifles to demonstrate the product.

Re: It Lives! Largest XLR ever!!!

I am 5'8" for size reference.

I would be lying if I did not have some reservations about the bipod holding up. We ended up putting one of the older LRA's on there because they are a bit more beefy.

The scope hieght on this thing is insane! The 90 MOA rail is tall and is sitting on top of the 2.6" diameter action (4" forward sleeve). Jon did not have the scope with him as it is in California waiting for him. We gave him several cheek rests to try out.

Re: It Lives! Largest XLR ever!!!

Hey, aren't 60mm and 81mm US mortars smaller and lighter? With a bigger punch? Just saying...

Still cool, like that Anzio Ironworks 20mm. I love one of a kind, original, out of the box designs. Just too damn big for me!
