Just a quick video review on the ITW Military Products Fast Mag Heavy magazine pouch.

I have been using the 5.56 version of this pouch on my entry vest for a couple years and they work great.

Nice review, been looking at picking some of these up. They have mostly favorable reviews on the web, but folks are saying they may grip mags a little too well. Whats your take on this?

I feel the grip is correct for use in the field where your life may depend on your magazine still being there.

It may be a bit snug for three gun, were fractions of a second may count.

However since I am not a top-level three gunner, I still don't think it would be an issue.

On M14 mags it's a total non-issue. They glide in and out pretty smoothly. I have not tried it with SR25 or DPMS mags yet.

They look handy enough when you can use one hand to hold the mag and the other to hold the carrier. I would be more interested in how easy it is to extract a mag when you have a rifle in one hand and the carrier is attached to your gear/belt/etc. The retention looks like it is strong enough to make one handed removal ackward.

Not at all. I run the "heavies" on a padded warbelt. The 5.56 version I use on a plate carrier.

It's all about technique. Grip it and rip it seems to produce the best results.

I apologize for not having "field test" footage, but really I have just been pressed for time lately. I barely get enough time to train lately, dragging the video gear out each time really puts a crunch on my schedule.
