Well, of all the promises that were made and never kept, the one to end the war by 2014 is the first I've seen that was honored. I got a plane ticket home several months earlier than expected and am enjoying my first beer in Dubai on the way back to the States.

I know that the majority of my Hide brothers assiduously avoid Illinois, and Cook County especially, but should any of you find yourselves in the area, or transiting the area, I'd be honored to have you stop in and share a beer with me at the bar (listed in my sig line). It's my brother's place, and my plan for the immediate future is to relax and probably do some beertending and enjoy being home for a while. We're a TRUE craft beer bar with a constantly rotating, fully curated list of really really good beer.

TheGerman has already hit me up and if things work out he'll be stopping in this weekend as I'm celebrating my homecoming.

In the next few months I'll be doing some traveling and seeing some parts of the U.S. that I've always wanted to, so I may be hitting some of you guys up if I'm in your area, and if any of you are in mine by all means shoot me a PM and I'll give you my contact info so we can meet up. I'll do my best to be there if any of you guys are coming through, and your first beer will be on me.

I look forward to putting some faces to some usernames.

BB

Welcome home bogey, if you come around tuscaloosa alabama, pm me and I will buy you several cold ones.

Thanks Mark. I still have a house in Mobile and a "residence" in B'ham, so that's a definite possibility.

If you make your way into Grand Rapids, MI or through there, then let me know and I'd buy you a brew at any one of the local breweries (we have many).
Thanks for your service.

THAT is definitely happening. The Michigan Craft Beer Festival is in Grand Rapids and I'll be there in February. I'm actually blowing off my itinerary into the States tomorrow and once I land in Detroit I'm renting a car and driving to Chicago. We do frequent beer trips into MI on the weekends. Usually to Greenbush down in Sawyer, but occasionally further north. Darkside and I are already working on getting together to kill some paper once I'm home.

YAHTZEE!!! thats good new brother!

Yes it is my friend. Having been in this industry, you know how weird it is for it to be good news when you get laid off sometimes. I look forward to beer and gunsmoke in the near future.

Welcome home. If you ever head down towards Indianapolis, give me a a shout. Great bourbon, cigars and a shooting range at the house.

Indy is definitely happening. My can will have to live in a safe deposit box in Indiana and that's the closest 1000yd range to where I'll be, so count on it.

Welcome home. If ever in Maryland for any reason I'd be glad to buy you a round or two.

Actually, the GF is from MD and we're already working on a trip that way, so don't be surprised.

Lots of small micro breweries around Charlottesville. And wineries. Closest good range I know of is Quantico.

Currently downtown but trying to figure out when I/we can break away. She has conference until Saturday and then going to visit family.

I sent you an email. Is there a stop for your town on the metro? If there is I could just come in the afternoon while the wife is at her conference and get drunk.

Welcome home, and Thank You.

On top of that, if in your travels you find yourself wanting to see what craft & micro's beers REALLY taste like (dropping the gauntlet here) c'mon up to CANADA and we'll show you what we've got around us here. Might even include a neighbor or two, seeing as it's a lesser-populated country.

:D

Seriously though, if you point your car REALLY North, let us know.

MD? Take your game up one notch (and state) and cross the Mason Dixon Line.

We got tons of small breweries, good ones, too, and the best-kept secret in America: YUENGLING

Welcome home, friend.

Hey Bogey,

I don't post much, mainly lurk and read. I enjoy you posts and would be honored to buy you a brew if you make it up to NW WA. State. Thank you for your service and very glad you're home.

Mike

Bogey if ya ever get down to south louisiana I'll drink some Abita Beer with ya!!!!!!

I'm actually a native New Orleanian. The last of my family left the city a few years ago, but my mom and uncle are still down there. I drank my way through USL (back when it was USL) so let me know where you're at and on my next trip I'll bootleg some Yuengling that way for you from Alabama.

Canada is gonna happen Sean, I was privileged to do a year with the Canadian Army and have a ton of great friends up there (although a bit further east than you). If I can make it work I'm hoping to do Remembrance Day with my Canadian brothers this year.

Still working through emails trying to find yours, but I"m on the beer garden as I type this. It's the Vermont stop on the Metra line. That puts you off at the Cal Sag canal and you just walk across the bridge, but if you're coming this way call the business number and I'll meet up with you at the rail stop and get you here.

Welcome home, friend.

I've been a Yuengling geek for a long time. I can get it in Alabama, and there's rumors that distribution will start up to Illinois at some point in the future.

Thanks to everyone for the "welcome home" wishes. The Hide has been my social outlet for many years while I was removed from normal social outlets, and I really do look forward to meeting up with some of you guys and enjoying a beer.

Welcome Home. I used to get up your way for something at McCormick center every so often but now that I am retired I can not say that it likely to happen again any time soon. If by some chance I do make it up your way I will give you a shout out. Should you ever be coming through Buffalo or just south their of let me know and we can get together to do some shooting.

WELCOME HOME SIR! The land of the Mud Hens and Tony Packo's (which was almost made into a drive thru recently) is just south of Deeeetroit, (which was flooded big time recently, saw it with my own eyes the next day) is where you'll find my shallow mind. Drop me some commo and I will buy you the tallest beer I can find at the local Speedway! Been many moons since I shotgunned some beers. It's gettin to be about that time!

Doug

Uh...if you don't mind drinkin with a guy who's been accused of using a dinosaur as a rifle. Meh...they were from the AMU, what do they know?? ;) It will have to been beer as I drank the water when they said it was "safe" and had a headache for 4 days. Cook County, Illinois? As in The Blues Brothers Cook County? Hut..hut..hut hut hut..hut hut hut hut ...
