Just got this baby , HK MR308

Just sharing some pix and first hand opinions abt this new baby in my inventory

The rifle is just a little bit heavier than my MR223 which is not a problem at all considering it is a 308w semiauto 16" carbine , the barrel twist is 1/12 so I zeroed it yesterday shooting M118LR scoring just a little bit less than 1 MOA at 100 meters far away , then using the BDC on the S&B ShortDot 1-4x turret I shot 1 MOA at 200 meters , in my experience I've done better just with the HK PSG1 or the SR25 match , both of them bulkier and with longer barrels .

considering their current track record, that might be awhile

the MR556 seems to be the next likely candidate for semi auto import according to hkpro connoisseurs.

Dealers are already taking orders on the MR556. Slated for July release. MR762 has been out for awhile now pretty much everywhere but in the USA. Pinco, jealous does not even begin to describe the feeling I have when I see those pics. Post them on the hkpro forum as well.

MR762 as far as I know doesn't even have an updated US release date.

Great rifle Pinco!

Some germans are more than happy with their MR762 (called MR308 over here

).

With custom Lapua ammo, they fired 5 rounds in one hole, a german gun magazine tested the rifle against a custom bolt action rifle and the MR762 won hands down (!).

However, after about 20-30 rounds through the barrel without cleaning, the groups are getting larger. With a clean barrel, that's what the conclusion on the german board is, the MR762 can acheive 10mm groups at 100m (5 rounds).

Anyway, congratulations to this fine piece of german engineering and have alot of fun!

American fellow shooters , I feel sorry you cannot have it yet , this is a great piece of hardware , in my configuration is GTG for CQB & perimeter shooting ( +/- 600 yeards far away ) , which is great IMHO .

to be honest germans have always been great at engineering and build up this kind of toy , the history is teaching us that , and this time again you did not disappointed this tradition , this baby is build up not just rock solid but also with the quality of an Audemars Piguet !

My groups at 100 & 200 meters were "just" in 1MOA because the reticle of the ShortDot covered the paste target , I'm sure that with a sniping dedicated scope it can be scored far better groups , however I'm 100% satisfied as well .

My post was not meant to depreciate your shooting skills. But I think you did't take it that way.

The problem with german engineering is: We (germans) are not allowed to play with all those great toys

never mind , I was just saying that I felt I could do better that that if only I have mounted a sniping dedicated scope , just that .

Why you cannot play with these toys ?
The MR308 & MR223 are both available in the German market in my knowledge .

It's brand new , it shots just 40 rounds to be zeroed , next week-end more than 400 rounds'll be fired by this baby , let's see what its performance'll be ..... I do not expect any reliability surprise .

That is an awesome setup, nice groupings. It's a good thing no one saw you on that roof, I can just here it now:

Oh, and how is the cheek weld? I hear that because of the way the rail sits higher it is difficult to get a good cheek weld unless you have low rings, but then you can't run BUIS on it. Did you experience this when choosing your mount?

That barrel looks to be longer then 16"....

the CW is GTG , the Troy BUISs are inbound in few days , however the Larue SPR 1,5" 'll clear the rear one easily , whenever I'll need to open them up I'll remove the ShortDot in a flash before to do that .

the barrel is 16", hands down.
