Today I went out with my Savage 110ba 338 lapua and took it out to 1 mile for the first time. Took a few sighters but got my first hit on my 4th or 5th shot, I wasn't sure because I didn't hear the ding, but I didn't see any missed bullet splash. so I continued on and got a almost dead center hit on my 9th round. I could clearly hear the ding even with my ear pro on. I'm pretty stoked, most people take about 10 to 15 rounds to hit the 1 mile mark for their first time (based on threads I've read), so I'm quite happy with my results. I didn't even realize I hit the target twice until I brought the target back home and took a closer look. Sorry no video, but I'll be sure to make a 1 mile video as soon as I can.

Congrats! Nice Work!

Dude, not really sure if this is the place to be talking about your "exploits" while engaged in airline travel. Oh, wait did I mis-read the thread title...?

dame man that is a long way out there, talk about reach out and touch somebody!! Congrats on the accomplishment brother, looking forward to the video!

Congrats on your feat Grizz, a mile is a poke by anyones standards.
Not taking anything away, but hitting 1k after getting into LR shooting was a more momentous occasion for me. After shooting awile, it was just a matter of gearing up for a mile.

Someone once referred to my 338LM as the HOG. I asked him what that meant, he said, "Hand of God".

Nice shooting Griz !

I like that one, I name all my LR guns also.
"Blue Boy"
"The Green Monster"
"The Beast"
And Last of all, "Zappa" a 7 saum C Dixon built with one those ridiculous digital camo paint jobs, I still scratch my head when I think about how much I paid for it!
I did have a .338 snipetac named "Dark Thunder", as in Kurt Russel, Call down the thunder, from the movie.
