Hi All,
First post for me, hi all from Down Under. Ok, here goes.
Got some KG1 carbon cleaner. Seems good stuff. Also some KG2 bore polish (very fine, like brass polish) and KG12 copper remover (REALLY WORKS!).
My question is this. KG's instructions recommend using the carbon cleaner first. I'd agree. Then they recommend a session of bore polish, then that's it. They say rarely use the KG12. They claim that by using the KG2 polish, small amounts of copper are left in micro scratches etc in the barrel. I have had a go and can see this is true on my Sako 85 in 243. KG claim this means no fouling shot is needed. However, I presume a minute amount of steel must be polished off each time too. KG12 copper remover just washes the copper out in minutes (no abrasive). All of it. Therefore I guess you need a fouling shot before use. But you wont be polishing the lands with the KG12 copper remover.
To note is that the KG2 polich is super-fine, a grey liquid. I use a 22 cal nylon brush wrapped in a patch on my 243 with the polish.
What are your recommendations? Carbon Remover, Bore polish, finished? Or Carbon Remover, Copper Remover, Finished? (barrel flushed with electrical contact cleaner betweeen chemicals and wiped with oil prior to storage).
