You best not mention the Lord's cartridge here......243 blows as well along with 308win since im committing blasphemy might as well go all in

I was going to say reading comprehension is not a strong suit on this forum. Yet, everyone is a technical expert. Some people have mental problems that prevent them from seeing the whole spectrum of shooting
You shut your mouth!Additionally, military snipers are not as great of shooters as Hollywood would have you think. Most of y'all know this but never speak about it.
If tiny angular movements in the rifles initial firing position can have large effects at 2500m, then cartridges producing larger recoil pulses will be more susceptible to accuracy issues. These will be field rifles. No one is going to be lugging around the lates and greatest f-class/bench rest/ELR bipods, rests, bags, rear bag elevators, etc.
Also, one cannot rely on the mass of the weapon system to reduce movement since there is a restriction.

you left out "diene", I usually just say "halts deine maul du sau" (I might add another explicative or two in there.I was hoping thewould be enough to convey the joke. Nothing personal taken - I actually agree with you. But 1994 recent SOTIC Level 2 grad me would be like "Halts Maul, junge!", but 2004 me in Mosul would be like "of course you dickheads couldn't hit the dude taking his time getting on that moped"
That would actually be interesting to know. I don't think Sako has anything that would work in those specs but I could be wrong. Victrix has some systems.Does anyone have intel on what rifles were submitted? Someone mentioned Barrett is out! I can’t see AI building a rifle and making weight. That leaves DT or Cadex. Did I miss any big names?
33xc will never be excepted it just like enabelr requires a cheytac length box at that tim why not just use the cheytac.338LM Improved is a much better .338LM, but with .33XC you can get virgin brass. Shooting .50BMG all day in the Army felt like I was giving myself a concussion; shooting .338LM all day sometimes hurts my shoulder; but I can shoot .300NM all weekend AND it has a much better selection of bullets.
Sig and ohio ordinance. Is still in the runningThat would actually be interesting to know. I don't think Sako has anything that would work in those specs but I could be wrong. Victrix has some systems.
Great points honestly. At 2500m who is making first round steel on target hits?If tiny angular movements in the rifles initial firing position can have large effects at 2500m, then cartridges producing larger recoil pulses will be more susceptible to accuracy issues. Reminds me of the TIC A Co had in Afghanistan in the Arghandab just above Mizan. The snipers couldn't get the Afghans that were using plunging fire from mountain tops with PKM's at around 2200m's so the 11C's stepped in with the 60mm mortars and solved the problems. They were in a TIC for about a week and I had taken all of the air in RC south for that operation. Fun days, not.
So I'm at the point of having to call the ball on chamber on a gun I'm building and I'm frankly pretty hard pressed to just say 33xc. I don't care about the barrel life since I regard that as a wear item. The pervasive view that the 33xc is a finicky son of a bitch with loads is what I get hung on. Seeing people shoot lights out one match and string vertically the next gives good weight to that perspective.33xc all day over 338lm
2012 if memory serves correct, 1-25 SBCT we were in Zabul, Qalat with platoon at Mizan and Baylough (Baylough was cool).2010!?
All this and the fact that you can't magazine feed with the XC from the Lapua Magnum sized magazines puts you into a Cheytac sized action anyways. I've been thinking the LMAI with a 30" barrel would make it hard to justify the 33XC.So I'm at the point of having to call the ball on chamber on a gun I'm building and I'm frankly pretty hard pressed to just say 33xc. The truth is, the LM is about 90% as good as an XC and a LMAI is probably just about on par for where most people end up velocity wise with the XC. You certainly have an edge in the supersonic range but it is only 100 to 150 yards with real world loads rather than max speeds.
The funny thing is that the 33xc is the only reason I would consider a LMAI. Since I can just full length size 33xc brass down to LMAI and trim the neck, it is much more attractive than if I had to fire form and all that crap.

Have not been following that close as we had no platform entered . Just was told about a week ago who was still in the running there is one other company but don't remember who they were. Answer came from individual in DODYou don't know who provided submissions besides those two do you?
I had a few 338 LM AI before switching to 33xc. 33xc is the easy button but comes at the cost of barrel life. All this and the fact that you can't magazine feed with the XC from the Lapua Magnum sized magazines puts you into a Cheytac sized action anyways. Or on the off chance you do a barrel for a DT SRS, the long action mags will handle .338LM AI up to 4.2" COAL338 LM AI w modified mags if you want to mag feed…
I have not had to tweak my 33xc load w solids in 450 rounds. I’m running a Bart modBB 1-7.5 twist..Even after the throat moved a mile. Velocity dropped but my load is still in tune. I have not experienced any vertical stringing from my verified load I run. Now, I may not be so lucky w my next barrel as this one is about to be retired. So I'm at the point of having to call the ball on chamber on a gun I'm building and I'm frankly pretty hard pressed to just say 33xc. 450 seems bad even for a 33xc. What is your MV like?I have not had to tweak my 33xc load w solids in 450 rounds. I’m running a Bart modBB 1-7.5 twist..Even after the throat moved a mile. I don’t think it helps w the 33xc. We have been retiring barrels around 500ish. I’m going to do a nitrated CM barrel next after I burn up my 2 spares.I like the way you think
Well after I seasoned the throat450 seems bad even for a 33xc. What is your MV like?

I'm surprised that you found a good node up there. Seems like most people end up a bit over 3000. I guess twist rate is going to affect harmonics. How tall was the node you are loading for?Well after I seasoned the throat, 3140 fps has been my best 3 out 4 at ELR distance w almost perfect conditions.
I had some solids going over 3300 fps in early load development w n570. My buddy’s barrel went around 500 rounds w H50 BMG and Berger 300 OTM.

Straight boomer cartridge.... And yes 9mm> 45acp
BABYGUPPY: While you are at it why not include all the classic cartridges the the great majority of the shooting community shoots. So that only what you think is cool is left in your small world. Why don't you take your opinion back to the bear pit where you belong.waiting for you to toss in the 260 rem as well, and hit the trifecta.
