I met Chris O. (Panzer075) at the F class nationals in Sacramento recently and we started talking about knives. I realized quickly that this guy was serious about blades and knew what he was talking about. We discussed sharpening techniques and he described his method of using Japanese water stones set up at eye level and worked by hand. Then he showed me his his personal knife which had a flawless edge and was scalpel sharp. The edge was perfectly straight and polished to a mirror finish. I was amazed that he could get them so perfect by hand. When I try to sharpen them I get a multi faceted edge because I can't hold the same angle consistently with every stroke. He doesn't have that problem.

I gave him some knives from myself and some friends out there to take back with him and sharpen for us. I told him I wanted a short angle, stronger, supported edge for hard use instead of the delicate, hair shaving long angle edge. I have them back now and they are amazing. The best edge I've ever seen they are just perfect. I think he only charged about 20 bucks each for these folders and that is a great deal. I'm sure I'll send him some more soon.

The edges are hard to capture very well on film but hopefully these images will give you some idea of what I mean. These are a SOG Trident and a Benchmade Rukus.

Re: Knife sharpening by Panzer075

Wow MarcS I appreciate the writeup. It was a pleasure meeting you guys and I will gladly take care of anything else you need.

For anyone interested pm or email me..I am going to start a little business out of this and see how it goes..small folders run 20.00 bucks shipped, if you send more than one folder every extra folder is 15 bucks..bigger knives are a little more depending on size thickness and edge geometry desired..

shipping is based on USPS flat rate boxes..as many knives as you can cram into a box..

I can sharpen just about any blade, and I can do axes and machetes..although because I often have to use a file on them they dont come out as polished..but are sharp.

JasonK shoot me a PM I can do kitchen knives as well..

and again,

thanks MarcS, nice pics...

Re: Knife sharpening by Panzer075

Another happy customer.

After seeing the work Chris did on another knife I asked him to work over my "everyday knife" with a reliable utility edge. Wow, he really breathed life into my beat up, but favorite Benchmade.

My photos don't really do justice to the quality of work he did on the edge, but thought I would try to show it anyway. I will be sending in some more knives for tuning.

Thanks Chris.

TAC READY, thank you for the kind words, it was a pleasure meeting you guys. I am glad you were happy..that benchamade of yours has definately seen the elephant huh..LOL
you should PM me and let me know how many knives you have to be worked on maybe we can work something out for some of your gear..

Re: Knife sharpening by Panzer075

That Benchmade that Tac Ready has there has been beat to shit and keeps on working. The tip of the blade was broken off at one point and reshaped. Gotta love their durability.

I'll have two more folders out to you soon Chris. A William Henry and another Benchmade.
