Knight's SR-25 ECC owner opinions, use at distance?

I have enroute an unfired KAC SR-25 ECC. If anyone has one, have you shot long distance, 600 to 1,000? For factory federal gold, say 175, would 1,000 in F class work w suitable optics, perhaps a S&B 5-25?

concerned re 16" bbl, but apparently some have had great accuracy.

I have only used bolt guns in that fashion but am wondering how it would work.

I have a few 7.62 rifles, KAC, LMT and LaRue. All are very good.

16" barrel will as you know, release the bullet at a lower velocity than an 18" or 20", but the "accuracy" coming out of the barrel will be the same, all other things being equal. In my experience, a 16" barrel is great for 100 to 450 yards. If you are really thinking of shooting out to 1,000 yards, you will want a longer barrel. You should take a look at the bullet velocity tables with different length barrels and see what that gets you with a 175 grain bullet (which I would recommend for long distances).

For some reason KAC went went with an 11 twist barrel on the ECC..the bullet will destabilize at 1k and shoot poorly. You need a minimum of 10 twist on a 16 incher to be adequate at 1k. a 9 is better and I shoot both. Im still not convinced a 8 twist is necessary from my experience unless your going less than 16"..

ECCs have been released with both 1-11 and 1-10 twist barrels. If it's a newer ECC it probably has a 1-10. That being said, I don't think an ECC is an ideal F-class rifle. Mine is sub-MOA usually, but I really really have to work at it.

You will get your ass handed to you in an 1k yard f-class match with that rifle. It wouldn't even be a good day of shooting. Going out and banging steel at 1k with would be fun but not an f-class match, just sayin...

I love mine and thinks it a great rifle. That being said I've never gotten it to shoot consistently under .5 or at times even .75 moa with handloads. I just don't think it's accurate enough to shoot for groups at distance.

You're bringing the wrong tool for the job. I mean sure, you could use a trenching shovel to shovel the snow from your driveway, but why not use a snow shovel?

The ECC is a 16" carbine that is basically designed to be a jack of all trades gun where you can shoot it off a barricade or prone with an optic on it accurately to 600m or so as the limiting factor will be the external ballistics of the system/barrel length/cartridge. Yet the trade off for this is that you can also use it like an actual carbine and run it with either a RDS or offset site instead of being the guy trying to do close range stuff with a long range gun.

I can run the 666 drill with my M110-K1 easily with its offset Aimpoint, yet in the middle of the magazine rest the rifle on something and make a hit on a 500m target with the next round with the only difference being that I've switched back to looking through the magnified optic.
