ive been offered 500 of these , how do they compare to the smks, and once you start using them is there any problems switching back to the non moly heads - using them in .308 700.

Buddy.223,

There's ALWAYS a problem switching back and forth between coated and uncoated bullets, regardless of make or type, or what process of the coating is applied. They simply don't play well together. If you've got a full 500 there, by all means use them! You'll find the Scenars are equal to the SMKs in every respect, and generally run a somewhat higher BC. Just make sure you scrub the bore and remove any copper fouling present before you start shooting the coated Silver Scenars. Once the bore has been acclimated to the coated bullets, they'll shoot very well with any reasonable load. Do NOT shoot any uncoated bullets out of the rifle until you've thoroughly cleaned the bore again, and removed every bit of the moly. Personally, I'd suggest starting to shoot the Scenars, and then use them and them alone until you've gone through the entire 500, before switching back to uncoated bullets.

Incidentally, we discontinued the Silver Scenars a couple years back, and are no longer offering coated bullets. The 167 grain Scenar, along with several other 30 caliber offerings, are reradily available.
