In my opinion the ER5 and PST II aren’t very “comparable” and find it odd that you are considering these two optics for comparison. Something tells me you’re getting sucked in with the 1/2 off price and thinking “that’s a $1200 scope for $600, that’s a hell of a good deal” when odds are before the email you didn’t even know that line of optics existed. Could be wrong but seems a safe bet.
“MY” take on theses two
ER5 -
pure hunting scope
shit reticles
hunting style turrets. Like to dial much?
light weight 23oz for a 4-20
likely great glass coming from Leica
Vortex-
mid level tactical optic
great reticles
exposed turrets
built to be used and has a warranty that makes all companies pale in comparison
weight 32oz with 5-25
glass on par with mid level tactical optics
If 300 hunting at 300yds with a 300 WM is your goal the Leica will serve you fine as I’m sure it has phenomenal glass, like most $1000+ featureless hunting optics. If you don’t mind the weight the PST 2 will do just as well, though I imagine you might get a few more minutes of shooting light with the Leica...but that’s an assumption. Anything over 300 yards and I would look elsewhere.
My wife shoots a custom 7rm with a Zeiss HD 5-25, it has great glass, exposed turrets, and tracks great. I use it to work up load data on new rigs as I love the glass and super thin reticle for shooting groups. It had better have great glass for having ONE feature, the exposed turrets, for a $1000 - $1200 hunting optic. I shoot it out to a 1000 yds with her hunting rig.

If you’re intending to do anything over 300 yards and want a usable reticle or use exposed usable turrets go PST 2 or look for something else. Anyone that tries to sell you on these euro reticles is a shit stabber in my opinion.
Good luck
