I cant believe this isnt the top of pile here. Enough about gun rights and who sucks. On to someting that makes me smile as much as shooting...that too...but no....im talking about grilling. I love to eat as much as I like to grill and I like the ladder as much as I like to shoot.

So, I want to see some posts abou recipies about grilling. I have yet to grill a brisket, thats my next grilling.

Ill start.

I LOVE baby back pork ribs. Remove the membrane on the back (the non meat side) then I dry rub. Any will do. Marinade over night if you want or cook right away. Im a bit of a go getter and cook right away. I wrap mine in foil to seal in the juices. The grill or oven, I keep at a LOW 205 degrees and put my ribs in, meat side down. Ill cook them like that for 4 hours or 5, depends when I cant pick them up cause they just fall apart.

Once they have reached that point, I drain my juices out to make gravy (ditch the tin foil) and to chare them a bit. I like to chare some BBQ sauce on mine (homemade or not), so i slather one side and let the coals of the grill, or the broil of the oven, almost melt the bbq sauce on. Flip and repeat. I usually do the meat side last.

Im hoping to post a brisket recipie soon. I would love to here some others though. Oh, and pictures would be strongly suggested. Who doesnt like grill porn...

Sorry for spelling errors, bourbon does that

Phylodog, that looks awesome. Im jealous as my grilling situation sucks till next week. Have you tried figs, goat cheese and spinach then when its done cooking, drizzle with creamy balsamic. Thats awesome on the grill and by then way, nothing beats a smoked turkey. What did you use on the brisket?

OH, and the search sucks here on the SH. You type in Savage 110 BA and dude's in girl shorts pop up.

Can't say I've done anything like that. I don't think I'd know what a fig was if it were sitting in front of me, lol.

I can't remember what rub I used on that brisket. I've got several recipes that I use and I don't take good notes most of the time.

Try this for searching the hide, works much better: http://www.google.com/cse/home?cx=010955838166721108978%3Aqcbx5qqy10o&hl=en

Re: Lets F!@#$#$ grill

Funny you post this, Last time we did this I got a ton of PMs asking for my recipe and process. So went out and got a brisket cold pack brisket last night and have been taking pictures of the process so I can post them up for people. I'm going to do this one exactly like the last one; 4x4 dry rub followed by an awesome wet-mop and due to the size (superbowl party at my house) I'm looking at a 15-16hr smoke. Stay tuned!

Re: Lets F!@#$#$ grill

What are you running for grills? I've got a Traeger electric smoker grill and a Weber kettle with the gas charcoal lighter. The Traeger takes all the guess work out of ribs, rib roast, brisket, and even T-day bird body. The kettle works wonders on steaks and burgers but with a little skill and practice will also handle the slower cooking but requires a lot of patience and standby. My favorites are tri tip roast, porterhouse steaks and potatoe salad on the kettle. The Traeger rocks for hassle free slow smoking anything. Should be doing something on one or the other or both over the weekend I'll try and remember to take pictures for posting. Keep in mind that real food had parents!

School is definitely in session here already, though I suspect that the semester will be in full swing once the rest of the Deans of Culinary Arts arrive.

Lessons have begun, take notes and pay attention. There WILL be a quiz following.

Just watch, it IS inevitable!

Later, we'll be talking "pairings".
