Can someone please elaborate on the advantages or disadvantages of the two, my last rifle had a Mark 4 with M1 turrets. I am curious if the M3 is faster/easier to range as I am a novice long range shooter.

Additionally I read a lot of bad stuff about Leupold on the forums, I like the looks of the Nightforce, but is it worth the extra $500 for someone not in military/police? I tend to try to spend my money on good optics and equipment when it makes sense, interested in any advice

M2 1/2 MOA knobs, imo

Leupold has easily adjustable illumination...something that means more to some and less to others. Zerostop on the NFs are something I can't live without, now...f'n spoiled by those things. Not sure if Leupold's newest scopes have Zerostop, I can't remember.

NOthing wrong with Leupold, man... I have both NXSs and Mk4s and I have no problem shooting to 1k plus with my 3-5.10x40 Mk4... doing the same with the NXS 3.5-15x50 is just easier. But that comes at a price; the NF is heavier, requires higher cheek weld from the 50mm OBJ, etc. Both are good, depends on what you wanna do.
I think you'll be happy with either

that being said, the underlying general opinion is that NF makes better scopes than Leupold, and that S&B and Zeiss make better scopes than NF.

Actually the:

M1 is .25moa elevation & windage
M3 is 1moa elevation & 1/2 moa windage

yes adjustments on the M3 are faster because they are more "coarse" much less confusing since you don't have to make (i.e. TEN revolutions) to dial your dope. However at 1moa and 1/2moa it may be tricky to hit a small target just by dialing.

They are just different, what works for some may not work so well for others.

Hmmm, thanks for the input, I really want to try a Nightforce, everyone I talk to says the same thing, and right now easier is better for me, I am still trying to learn how to properly dope my optics.
