LMT .308 MWS

Last call to LMT directly returned a two year "delivery time". Not exactly what I consider "In Stock". I don't think their website is a live inventory. I'll give them another call on Tuesday for kicks.

My experience has been pretty close to opposite of that.

I called the first week of November 2013, ordered a barrel, and it was in my hands 8 days later.

I got an email last week telling me barrel bolts were in stock. I think they may be catching up and getting stuff in inventory.

Picked up a new to me 3-20 SB to run on my MWS. I haven't had a chance to take it to the range yet, but so far I am a fan except for the eye relief.

Nice!

I'd like to hear your thoughts on that setup once you get some time on it. That's the scope I'm leaning towards putting on mine. What reticle do you have? Is it in a Badger Unimount?

Hopefully I can get you a range report after this weekend, I plan to take it out Saturday and Sunday with both my .308 barrel and 6.5CM barrel.

I picked up a scope with the P4F reticle and it is mounted in a badger one piece mount. I can tell you right off the bat, I am a bit let down by the eye relief as it is the shortest of any scope I've ever had on this rifle. That's certainly not a deal breaker though.

Just picked up a almost new nightforce 2.5x10-24 I might sell to get a elcan, does anyone know how to get a full member status so I can sell on here? Sorry for the noob question. I filled out all my status stuff. Thanks

You'll need at least 100 meaningful posts to become a full member - or you could sell it in the new member for sale section.

Finally got mine, much waiting and gnashing of teeth later.
I had planned to get it out to the range but the snow non-event shut down the ATL area so I decided that staying in my basement and whittling down my beer supply was more prudent.

I've got a few different boxes of factory match ammo waiting to test as well as three different bullet types under RL-15 to run OCW tests with to see what she likes.

I must say, the fit and finish on this rifle is awesome, definitely the best on any gun that I have bought, of course this is also the most expensive gun I have ever bought as well so there is that. Its up there with the KAC rifles the Army let me play with over AT.

Mounted a MK4 4.5-14x50 on her until I can determine how much scope I really want to use, tempted by NF's 3.5-15. The MK6 3-18 is pretty sweet too. Decisions decisions.

And because this is a picture thread,

LMT is working on releasing a complete parts list with pricing for the MWS including bolts, BCG, uppers etc, everything except lowers. I learned this talking with a manager at LMT. Kinda exciting. Thought I would share. He is going to send me a email with the list after upper management gives the approval.

Which rail covers are those banditjumper? How do you like them?

Just a note about the rail covers. I was under the impression that Tango down was the OEM source for the LMT covers. That may be the case but standard Tango Down rail covers are not as thin as the LMT spec. I bought some thinking they would be interchangeable. The FDE was off which wasn't a big deal but the TD covers were fatter than the LMT covers and they felt odd in hand. I sent the TD covers back and bought more LMT covers.

IM digging Trident182's KAC covers that he had stippled. Those things just by look have a grippy "feel" to them.

Sweet, Thank you for posting. I just bought a new Dremel last week to build the kids his/her Pinewood Derby cars

Looks like I might get some more utility out of that 1911 mechanics dream tool.

Found something on my mws today that others may have trouble with. I noticed that with the bolt locked open, and no mag, that the bolt wouldn't always release. I had a few stovepipes as well which I attributed to a dirty chamber at first. The bolt catch wasn't spring loaded for the whole range of travel like it should be. I removed the screw/pin and catch and found that the catch had dinged up the plunger bore enough that it was hanging and wouldn't come out. I used my pocketknife to peel enough of the peened over aluminum out for the plunger to come out and travel like it should. I noticed a few dings in the top of the catch and on the bottom 2 bolt lugs. I haven't fired it again but I'm thinking this was my main problem.

Not going to hold my breath... I talked to Gene about this months ago and several other times. I have been waiting on a replacement extractor and bolt , action spring to add to the the parts kit for years.

I agree. I remember a similar post made back in 2011, yet still no individual parts availability nor pricing.

I saw a for sale post recently with a new MWS bolt. I believe the asking price was $260.

There's a NIB 20" SS with a NF 3.5-15X50 with a CMC trigger in the for sale section for $4500! I have the same set up without the pins and trigger and paid like $5K, wish I had the cash, I'd buy another one!
