that slick is going to be sick once you get the glass & other stuff rockin
Anxiously awaiting the arrival of my LM8. It's coming with the CL 20" .308 barrel, with a 1:10 twist. 175gr SMK's and 178gr AMAX should be pretty nice. I'm wondering if the 208 AMAX can be seated deep enough to fit the mag yet still shoot well. Some immediate changes I'm planning on making, add Magpul PRS, Geissele SSA-E, and starting off with Leupold Mark 6 3-18. That'll change to a Vortex Razor 5-20 once I get it back from them. I wish I would've bought it from someone on the Hide instead of gunbroker. This dude is taking his sweet ass time getting it shipped.
Anyone get anything new?
So are the new MWS .260 barrels now 1/8 twist?
Yeah the .260/6.5CM (I have a .260 barrel) are 1/9, but there was talk of making them 1/8. I didn't know if LMT had changed the twist rate.
The .308 CL barrels are 1/10, but the .308 SS barrels are 1/11.25.
I hope LMT does .260 in 1/8, way better for 136-142 grain 6.5 bullets.
I'll add mine if you like?

Any idea why the different twists for the .308 barrels?
These were a limited run (some of them, like mine, to exact L129A1 spec) produced by LMT for the British civilian market albeit with no gas parts (thus removing semi-auto) - hence 'Straight Pull' ~ manually operated between shots. What period of manufacture is that with the engraving on the mag well of the lower?

This engraving denotes is a British "legal" version that functions like a bolt action rifle. Hence the "straight pull". The barrel has no gas port and there is no gas tube.
Ugh, that is just damn sexy. I have been drooling over one of these for some time now.
Read it and weep!
Here's what it looks like with the barrel:

First ten shots out of my .260 Remington barrel:

0.875-0.260=0.615" for ten shots.
The caveat here is that there wasn't enough powder to reliably pick up the next round. It extracted and ejected just fine, it just have enough oomph to pick up the next round.
holy cow, that's awesome!
Seeing as it won't completely cycle the gun (it will extract and eject, it just doesn't pick up the next round), it doesn't meet the requirements of round three of your 100yd challenge.
Soon.
What do you think is wrong with it?

Just an interesting data point regarding the mws, different barrels and preferred projectiles.
I've got a 18" ss, 20" ss and a 16"cl.
All are sub moa, but only with their preferred projectile.
20" ss- 168 amax
18" ss- 178 amax
16" cl- 155 scenar
The 18" and 20" ss really surprised me, because the 178's and 168's were not interchangeable at all, regardless of powder type and charge weight.
Wow that's an amazing looking rifle.....love looking at it!
