LMT worth the extra 1k?

Look around and you can find the LMT cheaper than $2500.

My buddy has a lightly used one sitting in his shop for $2100 or $2200 can't remember. If you would like his info let me know.

I don't think its worth the extra $$$'s. I have fingered them and feel the JP, GAP, Larue, are worth it. SCAR17 is intriguing and would likely serve the purpose, but for this kind of money, and if it were mine, Im going the custom route. Its your money, and only you can say wether the premium is really worth it.

Spending $3k+ on a high quality 7.62 gas gun is normal. I'd consider the GAP and JP to be at the top, would love to have one after shooting a few but will eventually build my own Mega in 6.5CM.

Go to Elfsters 100 yard challenge and see what different AR's do performance wise. Take you time figure out what us of value to you and choose accordingly. What are you goals to accomplish with this rifle?

I have an MWS and love it. I didn't buy it for the switch barrel capability but I like the take down option for maintenance. I am a consistent 1.5 inch shooter with my 16 inch CL using mixed reman 168 grn ammo. Others with more skill do considerably better. I hope to improve once I start loading for it.

My reasons for LMT

1. Proven performance
2. Less money than the next alternative - KAC
3. I like the fact the gun had mil contracts not for the reason I want to be like a Brit designated rifleman but it tells me LMT is going to be sticking around and parts should be available
4. Other than the barrel change capability there are no gimmicks. It's direct impingement. It's been around, its proven.
5. For me a good compromise between a SCAR 17 and something like a GAP 10 or JP .308. Not all battle rifle and not all thouroughbred.

Well said. Totally agree.

I have the Sig 716, Its the DMR, Its heavy as most 308s are. It has a 18" heavy barrel match grade, A geislle 2 stage trigger, full length monolithic rail, UBR stock, Troy battle sights, QD sling, Piston driven its flawless, 1/2" moa @ 100 is no problem, The factory got 1/4" with Lapua 185 grn. Im not that good of a shot, But this rifle is amazing for the money. A 1/10 twist, Its not for everyone but for me it was just what I wanted and I have no regrets at all. I wanted the LWRC and looked at the LMT, But the LMT was almost 1000.00 more and the LWRC was allmost 2000.00 more. If you can over look the weight In my opinion you cant find better for the money. But Im 60yrs old and used to heavy rifles, I had the M-60 in the army and this Sig is a feather weight compared to that, My last favorite rifle was a Rem 700 Sendero with a 26" barrel and this weighs about the same only shorter and easier to manage. My AR15 is like a BB gun, No matter the stories you hear about the Sig most are idiots who do not clean or lube their rifle, You have to remember a lot of new shooters are just that NEW, They do not realize the step up from a AR- 15 to a 308 battle rifle. They think piston driven means take it out of the box and shoot the crap out of it its not a sloppy fitting AK. It needs cleaned at least twice and pour the lube to it after 500 or so rounds you can back off a little on the lube. If you have a problem SIG will fix it period.
It also has a 4 position gas block on it, Do not shut the gas down, This also causes malfunctions, People have done this then tried to blame the rifle, Particularly the guy who claims he bought 3 Sig and they were all junk, What an idiot
