I just started break in on a new 6.5 PRC. 24" proof, 7.5 twist. Rem 700 LA. I plan on loading 147s with 4931SC. My smith swears by it. I'll keep you posted on progress, but please do the same.I would love to revive this. I was just given an 8lb jug of H4831SC (I know it isn't ideal)however, I am seeing people using it on hunting forums with temp stability (and that is what I need because I move from CO high alt. to sea level high heat hunting in Tx often.) Did any of you guys end up actually testing some loads with this? I have a 6.5 prc 24" proof, and it shoots 147's lights out with r22, but I am now out of that and slim pickings locally as we all know. Thanks- J
The bullets suck anyway. I’d definitely shoot something else besides 147’s!!In my experience h4831sc is a touch too fast of a burn rate in 26"+ 6.5prc and 147s. I ran into pressure before hitting max velocity/max accuracy. I think h4831sc would be great in 20-22" barrels or 130gr class bullets.
