Remember the reamer is what is giving the chamber so much freebore to allow me to load these this hot. The load depends on the brass really. Basically whatever brass I tried had a different powder charge because of case capacity and I did start really low with them and work up. Right off the top of my head I don’t recall which charge was for which brass but I tried SIG and Nosler and one is 81 grains and the other is 83 grains of VV N570. Both are compressed loads and I tried both FGMM Magnum primers and CCI benchrest and they were fairly close, single digit SDs with both. I think the load I settled on was right at 3093 FPS and that is loaded to magazine length. I built this gun with this chamber just to shoot the 215 Berger. Its strictly a hunting rifle so it should last me forever. I have abt 80 rounds thru it now and I hear I should pick up a small amount of velocity around 100 or so. I do have 100 pieces of AGM brass to try also. I had a slight amount of primer flattening with the new brass but the fire formed brass with the shoulders bumped back had zero pressure signs, there was just no more room in the case. LOL

Go over on the Longrangehunting or longrangeonly forum and read some of Broz’s posts abt the reamer and the 215 Berger. It sold me!

FYI, I had a Zeiss V6 scope on this rifle and honestly it felt too light, thats why it has the ATACR on it now. I loved that Zeiss scope for hunting.

I did a similar build. The 300 Wm cambered with the Rhian Manthis reamer from PTG is badass if you plan to shoot the Berger 215s. I am running mine right at 3100 FPS out of a 26” Proof barrel. I highly suggest the HS Precision DBM as it fits mostly flush and allows you to load the 215s plenty long to get that 3100 velocity. Here is a pic of the build.

It’s 10lbs 12oz with the ATACR and was 9lbs 11oz with the Zeiss V6.

I've got my rifle being built right now, expect it to be around 8.5 pounds unloaded, but at a maximum of 9 pounds if weights aren't as advertised.

Building a Lightweight (not Ultralight) 300 PRC LR Hunting Rifle. I have delusions of packing it up deep into the mountains for an Elk hunt next year. I estimate it should be around 10.5 lbs. after bedding etc. Doesn't sound that light but for a full size, silenced rifle capable of hard hits at pretty extreme distances, I accept the tradeoff.

I went with;
Lone Peak Razor Ti LA - 22 oz
AG Composites Chalk Branch Adjustable - 40 oz
Proof Sendero 26" - 50 oz
Hawkins M5 DBM CIP - 4 oz
Hawkins Hybrid Rings - 2 oz
Nightforce NX8 4-32 - 29 oz
TT Special - 1 oz
SiCo Omega - 14 oz

I went with the Razor and the Hawkins Hybrid rings to offset a small portion of extra weight from the adjustable stock. I must have weird face geometry because most stock combs are not close to high enough when I get my eye in the correct position for optics, so I opted for ergonomics. Especially with the small eyebox reported on the NX8. Maybe the lower scope position won't require me to raise the comb and I'll buy a non-adjustable stock which would shave some weight.

I only have the barrel in my possession so far but I'll post pics after the build is done too.

I plan on doing an Ultralight at some point but some sacrifices will have to be made. I don't care for hinged floorplates either but it's definitely a lighter option. Non-adjustable stock, lighter optic and shorter barrel with lighter contour should shave a considerable amount. I hope to come in around 7 lbs. fully loaded on that build.

I went with the AG Adjustable Chalk Branch, and it’s a good stock that only required minor fitting*. That said, I kinda wish I’d waited a month for the XLR Element Gen 3 magnesium/carbon to come out; it’s a full pound lighter, more adjustable, and the same cost once you account for the bottom metal, sling mounting, etc.

That's not good. I'll report back if mine has the same issues.

I priced an XLR 3 MG and it was 1100 with the accoutrements I wanted, a little pricier than my AG, but worth it apparently. Maybe I'll go that route for my ultralight. That'll give me some time to read end user feedback.

Well she’s done. As it sits with a razor amg 10 lbs 11oz. I could save quite a bit of weight by not going with the pic rail, atlas and adjustable cheek. Really happy with it. Now to get a load worked up.

Just when I thought I had it all figured out. Thanks for the information. I am going with a proof research barrel. The only only reason I am leaning toward an adjustable comb is for proper cheek weld with the scope.

That’s called scope rings, choose them for an upright prone position and you are good to go. Unless you are sharing the gun with someone else, the comb-optic relationship is going to be fixed closely for you in anything but an upright, offhand or braced shot. If you are never going to change the height once set, figure it out with some scope rings if you can. For a hunting rig, simplist is best.
