Anyone ever look at their phone with i2 on?

My buddy’s pocket was flashing and goin crazy while looking through my pvs. Told him his phone wasn’t screen locked, but when he pulled it out it was. There was ir emitters flashing in all sorts of places. Unlock the screen and it got worse.

Look at my phone and it showed nothing until i unlocked it and it blinked in one place up by the microphone.

Anyone know why cell companies do this? It seemed like a pattern, not irregular.

That is certainly strange. Phones are usually hardened and tested against electromagnetic interference. It is called immunity testing. This being said, I am not sure if the i2 devices receive similar testing.

What kind of phones are we talking about?

I have looked at a couple android and a couple iphone. Androids have way more going on than the iphone.

Interesting...it really comes down to how well the i2 device shielded the tube and shielded and filtered the power supply. If they didn't actually test the EMI characteristics in a lab, then it is not so surprising to me.

Yeah one night I was bumpin tunes under my Peltors and wanted to change the song. Pulled out my phone and my personal concert went from audio only to audio and visual with a blinding lightshow

My old tube was a gp who knows what with who knows hours and was generally a pos. This is the pvs that i first noticed it. I recently noticed again(years later) with an l3 filmless when i unlocked my screen the blinking started up. As shown in the video from jwramp.

The 1st time I took my brother with me his phone had some kind of ir beacon flashing. Bright enough it was obvious through the cargo pocket of his pants. Was not visible to the naked eye at all. It only went away when he turned the phone off. Haven't noticed that on anyone else's phone.

My old(really old) iphone did that, along with my buddy’s old android. But now his new android beacons just not as much as his old one, which looked like an alien spacecraft.

Not to derail the thread, but did you find a why to plug the peltors into audiu or were you running airpods or something?

Unfortunately airpod pros in transparency mode was all I did. It worked ok but not great. Worked well enough to hear steel ring on hits though. Excited for when Bluetooth is added to these headsets (I’m sure it’s a security thing)
