Looking for a reliable and accurate 6.5 Creedmoor Gas Gun

I was curious just to see how close I was to my $3,000 estimate I threw out in my earlier post so I decided to look all those parts up and here's what it would cost approximately to put that rifle together paying full retail for all those parts, not including shipping costs:

Proof Research 16" 308 carbon barrel - $829 from Optics Plant
JP LMOS BCG - $447.40 from Optics Planet
SLR .875" adjustable gas block - $114 from Optics Planet
V Seven Titanium Brake - $81 from V Seven
Larue MBT2S trigger - $80 from Larue Tactical
Vltor RE-10 Receiver Extension - $45 from Optics Planet
Battle Arms Receiver Set with Handguard - $950
Magpul MOE grip - $16 from Optics Planet
Heavy Buffer 308 carbine spring - $15 from Heavy Buffers
BCM H2 Buffer - $30 from Primary Arms
MFT Stock - $42 from Optics Planet
V Seven Lower parts, gas tube, detents, springs, etc - $300 (approximately)
No mention of the charging handle but let's go with a PRI Gas Buster (that's what it appears to be) - $90 from Primary Arms

Total parts cost for a rifle similar to the MSTN rifle = $3,039 (very approximate)

Ga Precision contours, threads chambers and drills/reams the gas port on a Bartlien blank for less.

does anyone know if chrome lined hammer forged (FN) barrels will last longer than other types of barrels?
if you only get 2k rounds out of a $850 barrel, that adds quite a bit to the cost of shooting.

i know, stop being poor. :p

Trolling?

no. since the scar 20s come in 6.5CM now, i was wondering how long the barrel might last.
since my .308 version is supposed to last 8-10k or longer, i don't really have to worry about that one.
if i have to replace the barrel on a 6.5CM every 2-3k rounds, i have to figure that into the cost of shooting.
or is barrel life not that dissimilar?

Yes, chrome lined barrels last considerably longer.

I had a GAP10G2 (essentially a Seekins SP10 with GAPs extra care and barrel) in 260 that was a hammer and quite reliable.
I now have a Mega MKM in 6.5cm I built with a JP 22" +2-length barrel and JP VMOS BCG and SCS and SLR AGB specifically to run suppressed. I also bought a rifle length MKM upper in 308 that @black max built with a Proof SS barrel.
Both are extremely accurate (sub-3/4moa) for gas guns and have had no failures to feed, extract or eject that weren't due to ammo, such as bad primer or when adjusting the gas block.
That said, I have a spreadsheet for my build and buying an SP10 would have been about $900 cheaper.

S.W.O.R.D INTERNATIONAL MK-17. 6.5 Creedmoor. Mine shoots sub moa after 6000 rounds of gently shot ammo.i would never do a 25 round mag dump, well at least not just one.

Thanks for all the replies and PMs.

I just cannot believe the wait times for some of these $4000+ rifles. I called Noveske and Larue and asked if I could pay to skip ahead to the front of the line and they both thought I was joking. When pressed, they said they don’t do that. Noveske wanted 16 weeks for their 6.5CM Switchblock N6. Larue said up to six months.

It seems like JP is the best way to go given that they’re actually available and the reviews seem to be really good. I’ve been trolling the Px for used rifles just to avoid having to wait. I’m very impatient and I know it :)

I’ve looked at Larue, JP, Noveske, and KAC but unsure what the best way to go is. Larue and Noveske seem overpriced and their wait times are *Stupid*. Lots of good reviews about JP by PRS folks but I’ve never shot one. KAC seems reliable but I’m unsure the accuracy is there. These are all perceptions based on limited amounts of time behind each gun and reading about JP.

I will be using this to shoot PRS, but I shoot for fun, and usually suppressed. I’m not trying to take home any trophies but usually finish in the top third. Of course I want something accurate but it needs to be reliable suppressed and Unsuppressed more than anything. Preference of a 20-22” barrel as well. Anything shorter I feel I’d struggle a bit more than needed.

FWIW I’ve shot PRS matches before with a suppressed 20” gas gun so I’m not new to it. I just want a quality factory rifle.
LWRCI REPR MKII Elite ... it's friggin' amazing. Accurate, clean, super impressive by any measure. I LOVE mine. Premium priced, but worth every dime (IMHO).
