+1 on the At ease. We all needed help when we started out. To disparage a new member just isn't what this board is for IMO.

The possibility exists that this is so new to him that he doesn't know what to look for. I've been there. I've pretty much only shot and reloaded for hunting and plinking before getting interested in long range shooting. I thought I'd like to shoot F-class and thought, what a better place to ask questions to get started than you guys since a lot of your shooting is long distance, prone. My first scope was a mistake. I bought a 8x32 Nikon Monarch. Turns out the damn thing only had 20 MOA vertical adjustment. I asked every question I could think of and every sales person I spoke with did not mention it, so I ended up with a 300 yard scope. Then I learned about 20 MOA rails.
My point is, some people come to this site just as green as they can get but they have the same desire to do better that any of the rest of us have. I'll bet that this is the first forum that Tony has ever visited and he does not even know about doing a search first for similar topics.
Tony may not be a sniper, in law enforcement or anything else other than just another American that loves his guns and his freedom to use them. Even if it is just for enjoyment, that's good enough for me.

They were all new at this too at some point and wiped their ass this morning the same as you did. I've been told by some folks who have been on this site for years that most of the judgmental, jerks who are expert's at running their mouths usually have the least ability to run their rifles.

I also run a long range AR10. I went with the Super Sniper 3-9 from SWFA for 540 with the SSHIDE discount code. It is a phenomenal choice for an AR10.
If you can't stretch the budget buy the Weaver 3-10 FFP Mildot with .1 mil target turrets from Midway USA. That comes in at your price point.
Vortex's Viper line (not PST) might be in your budget.
All are decent choices.
Buy a good enough mount. I used an Armalite 30MM one-piece mount. I lapped the rings with a Wheeler engineering kit from Midway USA that was reasonably priced. Another budget choicemwould be the Burris PEPR mount or a set of Burris XTR rings. The one-piece solutions that lever the scope forward are a better choice for an AR because they provide good eye relief.

This is very good advice. I use two of the SWFA SS 3-9X42 scopes one on a M1A NM the other on a LMT MWS and am very happy with both. This is the best value for a scope of this type IMO. Vortex also offers good value in the non PST. I do not own that Weaver but do own others and have no complaint. The SS 3-9 would be my first choice with FFP and mil/mil. Check out SWFAs sample list as well.

Thoughts on picking a scope for a rimfire.
From there you can search around on various sites (natchez, midway, optics planet, SWFA etc.) until you can find something that interests you for your purpose and falls within your budget.
Then ask about a 2 or 3 that you have narrowed down to, or use a search EASIER TO FIND STUFF - sniper's hide google search to find the multitude of posts / reviews / comparisons that already probably exist for the ones your deciding on. If there is a certain question about a model that isn't already covered, that's the time to ask about it. You'll at least have some data on a scope that fits your needs and hopefully will base your purchase on facts and not opinions.
Otherwise just a generic question of "which scope should I get" is like asking "what pickup".....the Chevy guys will say Silverado, the Ford guys F150, Dodge guys Ram - mostly based on personal brand loyalty and perhaps not truly based on facts.

Get the 3-10 mil/mil weaver from midway while it is still on sale. I've got another one coming in tomorrow and can't hardly wait for it to get here.

Since this is an AR platform rifle, your probably going to want to go a little high. This is due to your stock, etc.
Id look at some Badger or even a Larue tactical mount for your scope. Larue makes some nice quick detach mounts (QD Mount) so that you can remove scope if need be, reapply while obtaining your 0 back.

Since this is an AR platform rifle, your probably going to want to go a little high. This is due to your stock, etc.
