Sounds like magpul is literally making a round counter to interface with the Maztech stuff. If magpul doesn’t hold up their end of the development, we still get a good system that got a ton of marketing from the magpul machine.
I hope Maztech is able to pull it off. I agree, their approach of separating the optic from the rest of the system seems like a good one. The types of optics that would do well in this system are definitely different than stand alone LPVOs being made today. If the system really projects the aiming point, the Christmas tree reticle in the scope would be kind of useless except for follow up shots. Seems like the Maztech could also project a Christmas tree reticle so a floating dot in a super lightweight LPVO might be the ticket.
I don’t know if anything on this project is open source, but if they could at least make the communication module open source, I think a ton of others would plug into the system (any of the upcoming fusion binos could do this easily).
In my opinion, the video grossly under communicated the potential of this system. I hope Maztech has someone who is a tech, security and weapons nerd leading the project because that’s what it will take to make this successful
