Marine Base Shooting....

Been a long time ago since I was a Marine but we were not allowed personal firearms on base. Sounds to me like someone had their hand in the cookie jar.

I thought they stop allowing carrying on base after the Ft. Bragg shooting when Clinton was President. I can't remember the year, I think it was the early 90s.

You are allowed firearms in your on base residence. You just have to register them with PMO. Barracks cannot have firearms and must store them in an approved on base armory for personal weapons. Been that way a long time now.

Thats the way it was when I was in.

Back in the 1960's when I was an active duty Marine the Corps actually promoted individual shooting skills and marksmanship....we were allowed to have personal firearm on base...... We were allowed to use our personal firearms on the base ranges, and the Marine Corps would actually provide government ammo to shoot for free as long as the ammo was shot on the base range.........but that was like 45 years ago (damn I'm getting old).......
