really want to get to the princeton shoots this year. I have an A3 on the way to me right now and that should FINALLY complete a rig I won't be ashamed to bring around you guys.......

Re: MN member checking in!

It sounds like the guy asking you to fill out your profile wasnt rude or anything and he is right about filling out your profile.....but we have posted things up here for sale many times in the past....I wouldnt worry about it too much....

Ker2222---Man Im tellin you now...DONT be ashamed to bring your stick around....you would shit if you saw some of the factory rifles that have been toyed with here....hell ask Gunman....I used a piece of electrical tape to get his rifle to group....fucker went on to win the next match with that rifle...and it was a box stock SAVAGE 223...no kidding....

Hell even I have one now...and the damn thing shoots great! If you stick to the basics of what makes a rifle accurate you can end up with a good shooting factory rifle...free float it, lighten up the trigger, bed the thing, and use a mediocre scope and base....you would be surprised what you can do...

In other words....dont let the quality of your gear determine weather or not you want to come out and shoot....what we post up are pictures of the cream of the crop of our collections.....we all have those cheap rifles that shoot 2 MOA on a good day....

That's a tough one, anything public remotely near the metro gets hammered pretty hard. If you don't have access to private land, up north is probably your best bet. I'll be pulling a bowstring on the 2.5 acres behind my house near Elk River, that I'm closing on next month. For firearm, it will be up near Thief River Falls....

Need Smith to do Bedding JOB

Don't know if I should have started a seperate thread or not....

But, I now have in my possession a McMIllan A5, R&D Custom 700 with a jewel trigger and some standard bottom metal. I need to find a smith that can do a good bedding job. The stock will need some fine tuning it looks like to get the jewel trigger to sit free and the bottom metal feels like it is hanging up a little on something too.

ANyone have any recomendations of a smith relatively local to the twin cities area that could do a good job???? This is the rig I hope to get ready for the princeton shoots this year!

thanks

Re: MN member checking in!

of course you do!.... But, I can't really get used to the pistol grip.....plus then I would have to order all those neat "extra's" too
crazy.gif

but........i will be calling about a M5 system here in a minute. Figure if I am gonna get everything bedded and what not I might as well get it all done up right!!! At least that is how I justify it to myself

I have a smith ready to go and I am pretty seriously stoked now....even though it means poverty for a bit longer!

Pics will follow when its all done....

Re: MN member checking in!

Hmmm, looks like this thread is alive and well. Welp it looks like my shoulder is getting good and solid finally. It is giving me no issues when I am out riding my mountain bike and I ride hard! Hopefully I can find some time to start shooting again soon, its been a while so I probably suck. I made it out west for 1 prarie dog hunt this summer and had a blast. Whats new with everyone around here?

Re: MN member checking in!

Auto, I hear you on the shoulder. I have had some shoulder injuries in the past, and they are no fun.
I'm having an issue now where I have a pinched nerve somewhere, not sure where. My whole right arm from the elbow up feels like its being jabbed with nails on the outer skin, and my right hand is tingly knumb.

I've been going broke buying all these new toys lately. I think the next is adding brakes for the rifles for the shoulder sake.

Re: MN member checking in!

Planning on adding an AICS 1.5 to my 338RUM build to add even more heft to it. Hopefully the 300gr bullets will be pretty mellow if I keep the MV down. It is nice having full motion of my shoulder again and the strength has come back quickly. Probably because I stayed active right after the injury. Push ups become a no go real fast if I try doing sets of them as I can hear the joint making crunching noises. Every so often I can feel a pinch at the joint which will probably bother me later in life. These things happen though and you can not let them slow you down.

Let me know what you find out, with just buying a house I probably can't do much, but if we've got 4 guys or so, shouldn't be too bad.

I am in same boat with new house and student loans up the wazoo....but, like you said, with a group it might not be too bad....

Re: MN member checking in!

if you guys really want to get over to princeton and shoot I can have Dick open the gate pretty much any time there isn't anything going on, we could probably shoot free then...

Added:
Badger bolt knob
JP SS muzzle break
Haris bi-pod
TPS Steel Base
Leupold Quick Release rings
Mueller Tac-II Scope
B&C Light Tactical stock
Karsten adj. cheek rest
BlackHawk cheek rest

Has approx 175 rounds through it, w/ that scope and a heavy case I'm thinking $1200 obo. Will include a bunch of ammo, mostly Fed/winchester.
Also have a Bushnell 4200 6-24x50 tactical w/ badger rings thats on it now, if you'd rather have that scope we can discuss a price.

Re: MN member checking in!

If anyone is interested we are going over to ER for a little shooting time.

I have to test fire my Badger 338 and Marty just got my 223AI back to me to try out and we have some new handloads to try out in the AE...

Meeting at the Shell gas station on Hwy 10 and County 1 around 3pm today.

Re: MN member checking in!

I picked up another one of the same safes I already had here since they had it in stock and it was on sale.

Where were all of you guys Saturday night? You could have helped get this damn thing downstairs and in my office!

Re: MN member checking in!

Oh, and if anyone wants to go over to ER I have to bring a neighbor out to sight in his deer rifle so I am going to try some new loads out and AutoVerminator is going to tag along for too.

Re: MN member checking in!

any of you guys have any extra large pistol primers? I just picked up a little marlin 1894 44 mag and can't find primers for it anywhere
frown.gif
I can buy outright, or if you need small/large rifle primers in trade i've got bunches of'em

also if you have a lead on where to get some i'd greatly appreciate it,

Steve

Re: MN member checking in!

My buddy has a bunch of them in the shop in Monticello, he had 5 or 6 boxes of 1k yesterday...

Do you want me to pick some up for you? I don't know pricing but can find out, give me a call.

How the hell did u get that downstairs with you and the wife ? I could barely get mine up 1 stair from the garage to my house

Re: MN member checking in!

No BR2's unfortunately...

An appliance dolly, a 12 pack, and my buddy that owns the Monticello Pawn/bait shop got it handled somehow without wrecking anything including ourselves.

I would not try that alone, no way, no how!

Re: MN member checking in!

I shoot here in the winter, got a 700 yd range at the house and a 1040 yd in a neighboring field. If I take out a couple trees someday I can get 1150 at the home farm.

There's some matches up in Princeton Mn every 3 weeks starting end of Nov first part of Dec or so. 35 or so rounds at various ranges 100 to 500 ish yards.

Re: MN member checking in!

Hey guys....good to see this thread is still going...I havent been around much on here....I sold all my complete precision rifles to pay bills......

Sorry but I wont be coming out to Princeton this year unless something drastically changes.....

Im waiting for a reply on the last bit of precision gear I have....if he doesnt get back to me by the end of the week you guys can have first crack at it before I post it up in the for sale section....its brass, dies, projectiles, Lucas bore guide and a Dewey cleaning rod....Im sure that there are some other things I can find around here.....

Got a souped up CB that could use a new home if anyone is interested.....

And Xbox maybe....not the 360...the standard one...

Maybe the Wii if I can get the wife to let it go....

I also have some SOE gear that may go.....

Re: MN member checking in!

heading to south dakota for mullies in a few weeks.........getting pretty excited

I am also making it to the princeton shoots if they have them....come hell or high water this year!

Re: MN member checking in!

Traded my 700 for a brand new G27 and cash. Came out ahead on the deal so its all good. 27 is for my wife (CCW) and promptly took the cash and bought a DPMS Sportical .308. Always wanted an AR but the "screen door spring" sound of the .223 bugged the hell outta me. Needless to say this one has enough bark to drown it out.
