Member Link Up MN member checking in!

Re: MN member checking in!

Hey guys. I'm sort of new to the board (registered awhile ago, but not just starting posting and reading).

I'm currently in Duluth (school), but hail from the Twin Cities. I'm new to this long-range shooting stuff, but I have been doing other shooting for several years now.

Hope to acquire a good rifle and scope this year. Maybe I'll see some of you guys around.

BTW, what can you guys tell me about the ranges in Princeton and Elk River (as far as membership, facilities, and such go)?

Thanks,
rmnguy

Re: MN member checking in!

I was at Princeton this weekend shoosting up th place with sme of these guys. good range, great time.

dont know about membership to either.

ken will know.

welcome aboard

Re: MN member checking in!

princeton is ok but the skeet shooters rule the hen house there, not sure about the membership there either, princeton is a gravel pit if that says anything,
er is very nice and you can shoot anytime not having to bow to the skeet shooters, as for membership gl there are openings every year but you need to be sponsered by an existing member very nice place, ask adam bauer about becoming a member he knows whos dick to suck!!! dont you adam!!!
gonna be 600 yard f-class at elk river on the 19th of april hope to see you there

Re: MN member checking in!

Thanks for the welcome and info, Chris_K and monte2024!

I know Defensive Edge/SLR-15 runs courses at Princeton, so I was thinking it would probably be nice. ER sounds a little nicer, but I'd probably be happy with either.

Unfortunately I won't be able to go to the 600 yard f-class on the 19th.

Maybe some other time.

Re: MN member checking in!

Looks like I'll be officially able to join you guys. I got the job in Duluth and I should be moving the family there this summer, and I'll be showing up in October after a training class most likely.

Cool, I am in Duluth right now (as I mentioned before). Maybe I'll see you around here next fall.

What kind of work are you doing?

I'll be joining the Minnesota Air National Guard this summer. I'll probably have zero time to shoot with a new baby, a toddler, a move and a new job, but I hope to find some time.

A desk right now, occasionally a simulator, and hopefully this summer I'll be back to flying the F-16. Flying beats working for a living, that's for sure.

You know, the pics for whatever reason are filtered out at work, and it wasn't until tonight that I saw the last page's pictures.

One word:

Wow.

Classic stuff, the "smoking" pic will be forwarded profusely.

I look forward to seeing you guys in a few months.

Re: MN member checking in!

Wedding starts at 14:30 so this will be a no go... Sorry Kenny, I have a very busy life as of lately with too many social obligations. It sucks having a life sometimes... Will be making time on off days when they do the Monday night league.

Re: MN member checking in!

I read a post someplace here and if I recall.... end of April

The Barnard is up and running, I ran a few rounds through the barrel cleaning and "breaking in" it's just like the other one, a little fowling the first round and then good to go. I do like the Brux barrels. Got it sighted in the other day and got a rough 100 yd zero, came up 6 moa and took a crack at a steel target about 380 yards out and first shot "ping" though the second and third wore misses.

Re: MN member checking in!

Re: MN member checking in!

On another note guys, the Elk River F-Class League starts tonight if anyone is interested... Goes for 10 weeks, every Monday night!

Here is the wording from the flyer:

The Elk River Sportsman’s Club will be conducting a ten week F-Class/Mid Range rifle shooting league in 2008. The league is open to the public and begins on April 14th at 6:00 pm. Participants are encouraged to attend all ten weeks, but complete attendance is not required. F-Class gives rifle shooters an easy entry into competitive shooting or excellent practice for long range hunting.
The ERSC is hosting the MN F-Class Mid Range State Championship on June 28th and 29th. F-Class is now an NRA officially recognized rifle sport. Three weeks of the ERSC F-Class league will complete a 120 shot NRA registered match so participants will receive their NRA classification card before the state championship.

2008 League Schedule
April 14th: Orientation and instruction, zeroes at 100 yards
April 21st: 40 shots plus sighters at 300 yards
April 28th: 40 shots plus sighters at 600 yards

May 12th: 40 shots plus sighters at 300/600yards (NRA Match)
May 19th: 40 shots plus sighters at 600 yards (NRA Match)
June 2nd: 40 shots plus sighters at 300 yards

I could use an 8 pounder of IMR7828SSC. How much and where would I have to go to pick it up?

And while I'm at it would you send me your spreadsheet on Redding stuff? I may need a die or two, I'll have to check this week.
